Wikipedia on Project Chanology

It seems that the internet is going to war against Scientology.

Wikipedia on Anonymous

Anonymous, a group of netizens, has decided that Scientology has to go. They oppose censorship, which is why scientology excells at.

Youtube video where Anonymous declares war

This is one of the biggest efforts ever launched from the internet, combining the resources of 4chan, 711chan, partyvan.info, Ebaum's world, Encyclopedia Dramatica, and the IRC chat channels.

They have successfully staged simultaneous world-wide protests. Due to the numbers they are able to turn out and the ability to remain hidden at the same time, they have nullified scientology's traditional advantage of intimidation.
Anonymous' creed wrote:
Anonymous is devoid of humanity, morality, pity, and mercy.
Anonymous works as one, because none of us are as cruel as all of us.
Anonymous cannot be harmed, no matter how many Anonymous may fall in battle.
Anonymous does not forgive, Anonymous does not forget.
Anonymous takes all attempts to harm Anonymous seriously.
Anonymous only undertakes Serious Business.
Anonymous is everywhere.
Anonymous is legion.
Anonymous is nowhere.
Anonymous reinforces its ranks exponentially at need.
Anonymous has no weakness or flaw.
Anonymous exploits all weaknesses and flaws.
Anonymous doesn't have a family or friends.
Anonymous is your family and friends.
Anonymous does not accept failure, Anonymous delivers.
Anonymous has no identity.
Anonymous cannot be betrayed.
Anonymous is a moral being.
Anonymous is a choice.
Anonymous is united by one, and divided by zero.
Anonymous is not your personal army.
Anonymous is one; Anonymous is many.

This is also the first time Anonymous has ever been called out by anyone and wound up respecting that person instead of trashing that person.

Wise Beard Man

This may be the first serious threat Scientology has ever faced. This type of uncoordinated uprising is unlike anything Scientology has ever faced before.

It's also a testament to the power of the internet unleashed.

Personally, based upon the nature of Scientology, I wish Anonymous luck.

Scientology, let's see...

Scientology is a way of life:

- where the fundamentals are inherently good
- a ridiculous back story is overlaid to justify it being correct, which muddles the teaching and the message
- one has to believe in this silly story, thus alienating believers and non-believers
- where strong intimidation and threats used against naysayers
- where those at the top are really only interested in money, power and influence

Nope. Can't think of any religions in the last 2008 years that are the same.

Perhaps the distain of Scientology by the general public compared to that of other religions, and why it is seen as a cult rather than a religion by much of society is merely the ability to smack down the story - nothing more than that.

I mean, in the cold light of day, the story that Xenu, an alien ruler of the Galactic Confederacy, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners 75 million years ago, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs (their souls then clustered together, stuck to the bodies of the living and continue to do this today), is no more outlandish than the Garden Of Eden story, people being possesd by devils, and people living inside whales.

It's just that we have been brought up with the latter story, and the former is a recent manufacture.

Alas I fear much, if not all, of Project Chanology is puerile, not the way to go, and might actually create sympathy for Scientology where before there was none.
