I think redheads need to start kissing more redheads. (And here's where I whine about not having a redheaded child. Freddy's dad and two brothers have red hair. My chances were 50%. )

My daughter (not Rebecca) has dyed her hair red for over 5 years. She was prepared to have me mail her red dye while she was hiking the Appalachian Trail! She looks great with red hair, and often gets compliments on how pretty and natural it looks.

I'd heard the term "ginger" is used in a derogatory fashion in the UK, and never understood it either.

I was gonna post what Jny said until I read her post...

My mom who's a teacher in high school recently showed me an alert memo they got from the admin team about this... Apparently there's also a kick a non-ginger (anyone not red haired) day in December sometime. At first I was totally confused and thought this was some lame joke I was not getting... WTF??

Apparently it started on facebook through some brilliant South Park based group... Sometimes I honestly cannot believe how stupid and ridiculous some people are...

I always thought red hair is beautiful Have been thinking forever of getting reddish lowlights, but haven't yet as I'm a slow one for change

I try to take the view that anyone who has to tease red-haired people are just jealous deep down. Whenever I've had stick from someone about my hair it is usually the minging mouseybrown/bleached blond person.

Is there such thing as "shave a ginger" day?





They're both pretty weird/gross practices, but at least shaving seems kinda helpful.

I think you may have scarred me for life, for the first time on the internet. That one sort of sneaks up on you... worse than goatse.

FTR, I got picked on at school for my red hair, by all accounts. Even now, I'm a little shy naked, thanks to the way that my cuffs and collar so thoroughly match. Joke's on them though - I had a whale of a time when I went in for an operation last month - plenty of anasthetic, and very little pain to justify all the free pills they gave me.
