Oh, I didn't forget, I don't honestly care. I find it somewhat amusing that you are incapable of actually engaging in any debate of ideas. Not once have I ever heard you put forth an argument. I will continue to do so, as it seems to frighten you a great deal that someone can actually THINK.

I think 34 years of teaching people how they should think, rather than that they should think for themselves has kind of warped your view of discussion and debate.

So, yeah, back on topic. Anyone care to guess how long after the state stops paying its bills before the welfare crowd starts rioting?

It's interesting that more effort is being spent to argue that union dues, I mean public employee salaries, must not be reduced by even a cent but no concern at all is being shown for those who will receive IOUs instead of welfare checks.

The Governor tried to order all state employees to take two unpaid days off from work every month. Not an actual pay cut technically because their hourly rate remains unchanged but...

The State Controller said "no" and the unions filed suit.

Could this be why they want me to re-file my income taxes from 2006? I filed once but they must have lost it, because they want me to re-file even though those fools owe me money!

Stop whining California!

Calif. Republicans Oust Leader Amid Budget Talks

The Democrats in the Senate were working hard to get three Republicans to break ranks. Their leader supported the Democratic effort, so the Republicans changed leadership. This is very likely to derail the effort to raise taxes as part of the budget deal.

I still find it to be a veiled insult, but if it keeps him quiet I don't care. It's not like I don't know what he thinks of my ability to be a Ranger.

CG's original sig was insulting to the entire board and stupid.

Now it's just stupid. And pointless.

Whatever...maybe he thinks he's making some kind of statement about something.

Actually, a casual observer might assume that it refers to a recently-banned poster. Probably not the message he intended to convey.

So... we got our budget. And a "temporary" 1% sales tax increase. Bringing our sales tax to 9.75%. Plus an additional $1000+ in state income tax for middle income earners. Along with reduced services. Schools will now rank 50th out of the 50 states in spending per child. Teacher RIFs are next. How could it come to this?

It's interesting how school spending is calculated. By one measure California is last, by another measure it is first. On average California does have the highest paid teachers in the nation.

California has nobody to blame but itself. Truly the Golden State just a generation ago, now look at it. Out-of control spending, coupled with the nation's No 1 hostile business climate. Brutal business taxes and regulations, impossible environmental regulations, plaintiff's attorneys on the rampage, ridiculous energy taxes, and now cap-and-trade: it's no wonder employers are fleeing in droves and taking their jobs with them. Google's server farm is in...North Carolina.

Oh, and of course the welcome mat for illegals, sanctuary cities, benefits that draw the homeless to San Fran like flies. Ridiculously powerful public-employee unions, nation's worst schools.....

In short: California is an awful object lesson in what liberalism does to an economy.
