Anyway, I'm really not seeing how reporting on something (even if it IS something stupid, or "anti-pro-lifers") can be seen as childish. Are we going to say that people who report on politicians are childish for saying something that might be taken negatively? :Q
Reporting on it is not childish. After all the group issued a press release, they wanted it reported.

Bringing it up for the express purpose of pointing fingers and laughing... pretty much childish.

Assigning intent to people when you don't really know why they do things seems pretty childish to me, too.

My mom makes the Norwegian ones at Easter - soooo gooood. Much better than the American ones, but don't tell any Americans I said it ;)
Hah! :D

But I promise to try the next time I go visiting you crazy Americans. ;)

I'm not actually that big a fan of donuts (shhh, don't tell tinwe! :P ), so I don't even remember the last time I've had one. :blackeye:

I did enjoy donuts that I had from The Fractured Prune....they were quite fun. :) I mean, look at some of the menu!

# Rolo®: caramel glaze, mini chocolate chips
# Reese Cup®: peanut butter glaze, mini chocolate chips
# Strawberry Shortcake: strawberry glaze, graham cracker, powdered sugar
# Sundae: honey glaze, peanuts, mini chocolate chips
# Trail Mix: banana glaze, nuts, coconut, chocolate jimmies

:D

The best donuts I have ever had are the ones that my mom makes! :) They're just regular, raised donuts (not cake donuts) but mmmmm do they taste delicious hot out of the deep-fryer! We always make them on Christmas morning. And when we feel like it. They are certainly not good for you but slightly better than Krispy Kreme. Less sugar at least.

God I want my mom's donuts so badly right now. :help:

I will! I don't really trust myself with hot oil, though. :blackeye: It's easy with the deep-fryer, but hot oil in a pan would be a little trickier.

Get a splatter screen. It would help a fair bit. (Do share the recipe if you get it! :P)

This thread also reminded me of this:

Estellie, Spanish donuts are very close to American ones. Can't you cross the border and get to a Spanish supermarket?

elfshadow - I agree - regular raised donuts are way better than cake donuts. They've got more chew to them, and a much richer flavor.... and I don't feel like my teeth are going to rot out of my mouth as I eat them when I eat them.

For me, Krispy cremes are only good when they're ultra fresh - still warm and melty.

Next time I cross the border I'll pick up some donuts for me and some fritos for Eru.

Ber, you have a craving for anything?

What I really really really miss from the U.S. is an asiago cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese from Einstein bagels - my mouth is watering just thinking of it.

And Peanut Butter Chunk ice cream or Triple Butter Pecan Ice Cream from the Dreamery Ice Cream company.

So hungry.......

Estel. if you get to the La Linea Mercandero search out a packet of Tortas to try. They made me think of lembas. :D The packet I bought were San Martin de Porres but I saw a range there.

Dunno. I haven't tried Fritos and had never come across tortas either before.

Nonononono. :D Fritos are American savoury corn snacks. A bit like nachos, but in little strips. Spanish tortas (more specifically "tortas de aceite" which is what Tosh had, since "torta" is a generic word that simply means round, flat cake) are a traditional Spanish sweet snack. They're very thin and crispy, but not like wafer, more crumbly; a bit like a very thin cookie. They're sprinkled with sugar and aniseed, and come wrapped individually in waxed paper. The most famous ones are San Martin de Porres - traditionally, the best Spanish sweets are made by religious orders, e.g. Toledan marzipan or caramel almonds from Alcala. Mmm I'm hungry now...
