I like rugby, but I actually like Australian Rules Football even better.

Some cities have fanatical fans. I'm not use to that around here. We just sit there drink heavily and tell everyone they suck.
We don't wave towels or have rally monkeys or blow noisemakers.
So it is always funny to watch crazy fans in action. Makes me feel almost normal. :P

Um, you're from Boston and you're complaining that the rest of the country has crazy fanatical fans? :P

Well yeah. :D

We are still pretty provincial when it comes to sports.
Fenway Park only got rid of the organ a few years ago and we don't have a lot of light shows and noise going on.
We don't wave hankies. Have noisemakers or much of the silly stuff you see at sporting events.
We just yell a lot and say mean things to people. :D

A good example:

When Mo Vaughn was playing for the Red Sox, he got into a car accident on his way home from a strip joint called the Foxy Lady. While he was in the on-deck circle during his first appearance since the accident, the whole place was chanting, "FOXY LADY !!". :D

We are viscious I guess.

:LMAO:

I think Boston has earned its reputation as a place where the sports team better comply with the locals' desires or else.

Blegh, as for today, we will be watching, but, I have no favorites at all. I know so little about either team that it frankly makes no difference to me. Maybe a slight preference will be given to the Steelers, since they stuck with their roots, while the traitorous Cardinals moved from St. Louis off to Arizona, Milwaukee still hates Atlanta for that reason concerning the old Braves baseball team, we never got over it. :blackeye: :P

You're right, they still have it but up to a few years ago they used it exclusively. No music piped in or anything.
That has changed now though. Still not as dramatic as most places with the sound effects and all.

All the American League teams are for sissies! "We can't have our pitcher hit, he might get tired if he runs the bases :bawl: ." What a bunch of whiners, real baseball players play in the Natioanl League.

Now, back to hating Obama. How can a man in his right mind root for a team that its fans carry towels to clean up the beer that they spill. REAL fans wouldn't spill their beer.

OK, so they found a way to raise money WHILE they are cleaning up their beer. It had to come from another fan base because Steelers fans are not smart enough to figure it out.

OHHH, please enlighten me Lurker. I'm not familiar with what the Flames have....

Freddy, I totally agree with you about the designated hitter rule in the American League. That rule has RUINED the Zen of Baseball. RUINED, I tell you!

The beauty of the sport is that there IS no offense and defense...that everyone plays the whole game.

The only way I would accept the DH is if a specific hitter was attached to a specific pitcher...so if the pitcher went, so did the hitter.

I may have to start a thread about it at some point.

:D

Yeah I am really thrilled about watching a pitcher attempt to bunt or strike out. :P

Um let's see. Watching David Ortiz launch one or watching Daisuke strike out...hmmm tough choice. :P

See, if they can't hit then they can are only half a baseball player because they are only playing half the game. They should also be paid half what the catchers are making.

Every pitch of the game is thrown by a pitcher. No other player even comes close to their involvement in a game.

I am as one with you, Freddy.

A real baseball player plays baseball. Not just part of the game.
