Coulter plans to file a human rights complaint

I gotta say, I'm really disappointed in my old university for playing right into her hands.

It takes real talent to mess with Coulter and come off looking like you're in the wrong.

Absolutely true.

A disgraceful situation, and will only get worse.

IMHO the protesters have as much right to protest as she does to talk.
But she will make it look as if Canada doesn't like free speech. Which doesn't take into consideration the US Constitution means diddly squat in Canada, but she doesn't realize the rest of the world isn't the US. What scares me the most is her and her type will milk this for all it's worth and turn the 'real' Americans against Canada. Well what really scares me is that if the nutjobs ever get real power they will invade Canada to save it from the evils of not be a real democarcy or maybe for its oil.

Don't you first have to be human to file a human rights complaint?

Elshado.... WOAH!!!!!!!

When you posted that I thought it had to be a trick or somebody using Photoshop..... but here it is on her own website in the photo gallery

http://www.anncoulter.com/cgi-local/gallery.cgi

I also notice that there are very few pics where she actually displays her hands...... bizarre.

Strange. I didn't think Coulter even believed in human rights.

ETA: She came to my campus to speak six or seven years back. My first year of grad school. I didn't go because 1) she does bad things to my blood pressure and 2) I didn't have time. But she made more in one evening of spewing forth her hateful bile than I did in that entire year of doing research and teaching undergrads biochemistry. I found that kind of demoralizing.

The students certainly had the right to protest. What she's claiming is that she was threatened with prosecution if she wasn't careful what she said.

I wish I thought that Horrible Harper would get rid of the Hate Speech Laws. It's a disgrace to Canada.

I can hardly wait to see what Mark Steyn will have to say about this in the next Maclean's. :(

What a weird weird weird public meeting I just came from. There was around 300 people (massive turn out) to the City's budget public meeting. The Mayor and City Councilors wanted input on what programs could be cut. The Mayor opened the last hour up for public comment. 2 (yes that's 2) people got up and said they did not want taxes raised, ever for any reason. Around 150 plus got up and said raise taxes and cut nothing. I. am. floored. I live in the only strong Republican County in New Mexico, strong Republican is an understatement, but there we were in a public meeting discussing local government and the size of local government and the cost of local government, and oil field workers and people on fixed income and single mothers all said raise Gross Reciepts Taxes.

If this is any indication of the rest of the nation, the GOP best stop listening to the Tea Party.

Most governments have been cutting for at least two years now. Perhaps the people of your town feel that there is not more fat to be cut that now it would be vital muscle and bone and they are not in favor of that? It sounds like a really interesting meeting.

In an interview with Harry Smith on CBS' "Early Show" Friday morning, President Obama called out Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh as purveyors of "vitriol" - creating a climate in which he's called a "socialist" and even a "Nazi."

Quote:
Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance on Him who has never yet forsaken this favored land are still competent to adjust in the best way all our present difficulty. 33
In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow-countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The Government will not assail you. You can have no conflict without being yourselves the aggressors. You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to "preserve, protect, and defend it." 34
I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature. - Abraham Lincoln

You know what's both hilarious and awful? Reading the comments below that story. What on earth are those people smoking?

No kidding. Several years ago when everyone was worried about mad cow disease, I remember reading an article that claimed there was a new strain of the prion out there that instead of killing quickly and obviously, just made you gradually go crazy over the course of a decade or two. Sometimes I've got to wonder...

This is why I think there needs to be a Common Sense Party, for all those moderates who are being drowned out by the circus. The people slighty to the left or right, the people who want the government to fiscally responsible but realize there is a need for government services, that building our infrastructure is important, that helping those who really need help is important, that there needs to be some reform in Wall Street and are tired of Wall Street buying up both sides of the house (which includes the Tea Party who gets a ton of money from phillip morris)

Or the real people who know that yelling less government isn't the answer, the answer is to take back the government. To clear the hogs out of the stream.

The Libertarian Party already exists, Ara.
