There has been lots of publicity over the last month about the Birther movement. These are the folks that claim that President Obama is illegally occupying the office because he was not born in the USA. Obama has a legit birth certificate from a state - Hawaii. There are at least two public notices in that states newspapers at the time of his birth making the announcement. Witnesses have come forward saying that they were there at the time. But still, the Birther movement persists.

Research 2000, a company which had a very good record during the last election cycle, has done a poll to find out who the Birthers are.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/ ... d-Southern

and an article analyzing the data

http://washingtonindependent.com/53396/ ... in-america

The results indicate that the largest group who support this idea are concentrated in just one region of the nation and are pretty much confined to one demographic group. When you combine these results with the results of the election results from November it looks like there are some unmistakable conclusions to be drawn here. Sad to say but this is simply additional evidence that some of the old and ugly divisions that split our nation in the past are here again in one form or the other.

But this time, the Good Ol' Boys did not prevail.

They didn't last time either, but look what it cost to stop them.

I should point out that "southern" and "Republican" are not independent variables, though.

I'd like to point out that Sarah Palin isn't a citizen of the US either, she was born in Russian waters.

Hell if they can do it so can I. I say the more of us start crap about their people the better. So here on this board right now I am starting the truth about Sarah Palin, she's actually Russian, communist and wasn't born in the US. This is why she married Todd. Its all a plot to revert Alaska back to Russia. Please get the word out.

Palin was born in Idaho according to Wikipedia. But I have never held the birth certificate in my own two hands so I could not say for sure.

This is going to have the Teabagger crowd to erput in multiple orgasms

I see this is "exclusive" to WND.

So what is this WorldNetDaily organization? According to their "about WND" webpage, "WorldNetDaily.com Inc. is an independent news company dedicated to uncompromising journalism, seeking truth and justice and revitalizing the role of the free press as a guardian of liberty."

Here is a list of their top stories of the day:

1st eligibility movie debuts on Obama's birthday
The criminal case against ACORN
Did Obama lie to Christians, Jews?
Loophole for illegals in 'Obamacare'?
Obama czar pick: 'Raving animal rights nut'

The commentaries I clicked at random were all scathingly Conservative Republican.

I knew a girl named Sarah who was born here at about the same time. Her family name was - - - - um - - - - Pollack. That's too weird to be a coincidence.

Hey I seen Sarah Palin's real birth certificate on the AML site. It had Khrushchev's signature on it, so it has to be true. In fact it states that Vladmir Putin's father is her father. This is why she is so interested in Russia, she misses her brother.

Somebody needs to give me my own tv show. Maybe they could put me on the same time as Glen Beck. The words of gold the spew forth from my mouth are pure wonderfulness. :flowerthrow: :( :bawl: :bawl: :cheerleader:

So, are you saying these aren't unbiased viewpoints? I thought Obama was an illegal loving, muslim, criminal, liar...... wasn't that his campaign promise?

I thought Obama was born out of wedlock in a stable, and that these witnesses were three wise men from the East Coast.

We can have either a laugh or a shudder about the Birther movement but what interests me is why people have to hug these pseudo-scientific/pseudo-truths around themselves, embellishing them in order to feel safe within their ideologies. It's not a new phenomenon, nor is it limited to the Birthers.
One can tell the psychological difference just by looking at the Palin references here. They scream out joke, joke joke. That Birther stuff aint humorous, it is bug-eyed deadly serious.

Here is my favorite wingnut line of the day reagarding the amazing discovery of the Kenyan birth certifgicate of barack Obama. it comes from Geoff Linsley whose official online title is the Grand Rapids Ron Paul Examiner.
http://www.examiner.com/x-14129-Grand-R ... e-acquired
Linsley enthusiastically linked to the online "documents" and is holding court about them saying "see I told you so". And then part of his article contains this line taken from the WND site
Quote:
Despite the fact that a hoax document similar in nature circulated the Internet last week, WND reports that the document ‘bears none of the obvious traits of a hoax.’”
Yup. The thinking seems to go like this.......'although this document looks a whole lot like the hoax documents that were around last week (and which some trumpeted as authentic and real) these sure don't look like a hoax cause we got hold of a better Photoshop program'. What more do we need to know to rest easy that this whole thing is legit?

This entire Birther thing just gets wackier by the day.

They're reporting even Ann Coulter thinks Lou Dobbs is crazy story.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090803/ap_ ... _lou_dobbs

You know when Ann Coulter says things are going to far.....it's so far out there the Hubble Telescope can't see it.

Ara, Biden is an old white guy and thus within the birthers' comfort zone.

You can have my $29.95 if I can get that on a pay per view barbed wire steel cage death match. Coulter is twice the man Dobbs thinks he is.
