NEWS FLASH!!!!! This just in...... John F. Kennedy died in 1963. His tax policies were based on conditions in the early Sixties from a different time and era of America. Ted Kennedy based his tax ideas on the current world he lived in - which was not an America of Chubby Checker doing the twist, Mickey Mantle, The Ronnettes, Marilyn Monroe and George Wallace and other things which no longer exist.

And for your information CG, Kennedy urged changes that resulted in the tax rate on highest earners placed at 70%. I am sure that many modern liberals would think all their dreams have come true if that would be put into law today.

Is that the tax policy you wanted Ted Kennedy to embrace?

I was wondering how the worshippers of government would respond to being reminded that JFK cut taxes, even on the rich.

Do you read CG? JFK supported a level of taxation on the rich at the 70% level. Got that? 70%. Since you want to use JFK and his tax policy as some sort of model it seems only logical to ask you if you support a 70% top bracket tax that JFK did? If not, quit your hypocrisy and leave JFK alone.

You also seem fairly uniformed about other facets of the tax policy advocated by JFK as President. While the top rate may have been 90% there were deductions and loopholes large enough to drive a fleet or armored cars loaded with hundred dollar bills through the law. Because of that, the top rate did not always translate into the numbers that were affixed to it. JFK and his financial advisors advocated reducing the top rate but also tightening up considerably on those allowable deductions and loopholes. The theory being that a tax rate of 70% with fewer loopholes would actually bring in more revenue that a tax rate of 90% with overly broad and generous loopholes.

Did you read SF? JFK lowered taxes on the rich. Got that? Lowered. Since you want to use JFK and his tax policy as some sort of model it seems only logical to ask you if you support lowering the top tax that JFK did? If not, quit your hypocrisy and leave JFK alone.

I guess its you who cannot read CG. JFK advocated and had his people in Congress push for two things
1) a tax rate of 70% on upper income earners, and
2) closing off and reducing write-offs and loopholes for the rich so even a nominal reduction would actually result in a larger tax collection.

Do you support both of those CG? You are bowing low before the altar of John Kennedy so say if you support what he supported or get off the pot.

CG - this is like the fourth time I am giving you the factual information but you stupidly and ignorantly do not comprehend.

JFK advocated a tax rate of 70% on high income earners?

Do you dispute that????????

JFK advocated closing the numerous loopholes for those individuals so that their effective rate of payment would actually be increased for some of those high earners despite a reduction from 90% to 70% since they would lose many overly generous deductions.

Do you dispute that?????
:bang:

If your embracing of the tax policies of JFK truly reflect an acceptance of those same policies, then it is a day for celebration. CG supports a tax rate of 70% on upper income earners as his repeated advocacy of the tax policies of John F. Kennedy show. Oh happy day!!!!! Is that the situation CG or are you simply attempting to hijack the memory of JFK for your own extremist purposes but ignore the facts?
