(in case they remove it)
I really would like to have this car except for a couple of things. A: I don't have $2800 right now and can't afford maintenance on yet another car and B: We had a '95 Jetta up until last year and it was a real money pit- and I found out recently that late 90 jettas are notorious for that.
Quote: VW TDI For SALE - $2800 (Kingdom City, MO)
For Sale 1997 VW TDI Jetta, 227,xxx miles, 5 speed, A/C, Power Steering, vg tires, new struts, alignment, I commuted with car for 3 years. Car has been outfitted to use Waste Vegatable Oil, I have run for approximately 30,000 miles on WVO. The WVO system could continue to be WVO, or double your fuel hauling with diesel in second tank. If customers do not want conversion I will remove but no discount. This car runs and drives great, all maintenance done, next timing belt change at 246,000. Oil used, Full Synthetic Rotella 5w40. That said, I love VWs and have a great mechanic that works on our remaining two and always treats us fairly. I've wanted a TDI for a while now, and one that is converted to burn waste vegetable oil already really tickles my fancy. Since we got a deep fat fryer a few months ago, we've been discarding almost a gallon of oil every month or so and this would be the perfect use for it! And I could probably get more oil for free from some restaurant or another.
But..... money pit..... kids in college..... shouldn't do it. Won't do it. It would be cool to have another VW, but it's a baaaaaaaaaad idea.
So, what sort of car tempts you?
