Yay! Thanks Dawn! :D

I can't believe you made that piano stool. It matches so well. :Q Did she know you were going to make it? What was her reaction when she saw it?

Not feeling very exciting, so I'll just post a link to my DA account, which is something I don't think I've ever got round to doing before.

:) No, while she knew that I was making her a gift, she didn't know what it was. Later on she told me that she was expecting me to make a shelf or something simple. ;)
Well it was going to be a Christmas gift, but I couldn't wait. When she was busy upstairs one evening I brought it in from my car and set it in it's place by the piano. She walked past it about half a dozen times during a 5 hour period before realizing it was there. :P When she focused in and saw it, she was really excited. The only trouble now is that she won't let anyone near it. :P

I've been working on this for the past few weeks. I've never really done anything like this before so I'm really happy with it. :) (Though that right eye never looked right and for the life of me I can't tell why...)

It is, as you might have guessed, a drawing of my younger niece. The series of cute niece sig pics was meant to inspire me to keep working on this. It was very, very hard and frustrating and I almost quit several times. Glad I didn't. :)

Holy crap, yov. No idea you had that in you. Well done. :)

As for the right eye (her left eye?) my only guess is that there is an extra line or two in there compared to the other eye. But it neither looks wrong nor unrealistic, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Those cheeks are just too cute.

Very well done, Yov. And the right eye doesn't look right because it's set deeper in its socket than the left. You need to even the two of them up a bit. But other than that...WOW!!

Thanks, everybody. This was in the end super fun to do and now I've got drawing fever. :)

And thanks specially for the constructive criticism. That is really appreciated - I'm trying to learn!!

Thanks, Sid! :) How? By about a month's worth of hard work, concentration, trial and error, and lots and lots of patience. I have little natural skill so any art success I attain is through grudging hard work. It's fun work though!!

Well I have been practicing day after day lately at drawing and I don't think I could ever get to that level, so you have natural talent for sure! I will just be happy when I will be able to draw awesome cartoons from my head.

I have a DiviantArt account now and I have been drawing like mad to get better at it. I've gotten really good at copying stills from anime, but I still really struggle to draw anything out of my head. I'm not giving up though! :D

Here are my three best I feel...these are all copies from stills:

And I am not going to post anything I have drawn from imagination yet since I still suck at that!

But how much time will you spend on one single drawing? I bet you could do pretty good too if you spent as much time on it as I did!

I love the trees so much on that Ulquiorra picture. :D They're totally yours, and they totally look awesome. ^^

Well thank you for enjoying the trees, Pips! LOL! :D

yov, I spend a few hours on each...I suppose three hours is the least amount of time I spend on one.

Actually though I really don't have much of a desire to draw realisitically...I never have. Though I am totally in awe of anyone that can do it. I just want to be a really awesome cartoonist. Though I don't know if that will ever happen...I'm already nearing 30! I should be awesome already as old as I am!

On that drawing, I started by just drawing the outline of her head - no details, no shading, no facial features, nothing but the shape of her head (and I don't think I even did the ear at all till later). Doing just that line took me about 2-3 hours. And I had to do it three times before I was okay with it. So in total, just starting this drawing took me 6-9 hours!

I've never been that interested in realism either, but that particular photo of my niece really struck me. It was one of those things where as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to try to draw it. :)

I finished a new drawing. I'm providing a link since it is a nude (male, from rear):

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/yo ... eeping.jpg

(There was a tiny bit cheating as the body outline was mostly traced.)

Hope you like it. I'm pretty happy with it. :)

Wow! :D The shading is just spectacular! Shading with a pencil is something that still alludes me after all these years! You are so good at it!

I can't believe photobucket is censoring art.

Get yourself a deviantart account. You won't be censored there.

Sid, I was wondering if you always do your stuff with markers or if you ever try pencil or paint?
