Yeah, but, if this were me, I'd be like "I don't know those pottery makers, but I do know you." IOW, a piece of work by someone I knew would mean so much more to me than a piece of work by someone else I don't know (who might be "better").

But I don't mean to interfere. Really.

I'm very relaxed about being interfered with on the whole.

Newly completed piece o' art from me entitled "Katydid!". Getting a clean image of my marker-on-glass stuff has proved to be a pain so I'm doing it like this:

Me with the pic so you can see the size and how the glass looks.

The only clear glare-free photo I was able to get.

Yov, is there some sort of protective coating you can put on those things so they can be cleaned? I ask because I could totally see something like that in a window pane or on a cabinet door in a fancy-shmancy home somewhere.

:) I've had the idea for a while, of if n when I have my own home, doing some of the windows up in with my art. But, yeah, I don't know if it'd last. I recently bought this clear art coating stuff meant for pencils-on-paper but I haven't tested it out on this stuff yet.

That must be a pane in the glass.

That is cool! :) You could sell that at an artisan's show.

I got new glasses for close-up work back in April...and decided to go back to that Cinderella cross stitch design I started 3 years ago.

Last August I posted a photo to show how far I'd got in that time.

Here's an update photo, after a month's work on it:

:w00t: I'm determined to finish it now!

Oooh, very pretty!

I've finished more on my Irish sampler, but I still have the bottom section to do.

Looking gorgeous! Are those French knots or beadwork on her crown and ruffles?

Beadwork! ...and the pinks of the roses, and the green leaves are in metallic thread, though the light didn't catch on them very well. The full size photos I took show the detail nicely, but I have to resize them for posting, unfortunately.

Very pretty! I think the metallic threads are neat, but they are harder to work with for sure.

Oh, this is making me want to get some of my projects out! I have a lovely fairy that I haven't worked on in years, but I will finish someday!

You should! and now you have that lovely new house to display your beautiful work in... :thumbsup

That gorgeous fairy godmother that I made for my daughter's room has now been moved into the hall because we redecorated her room, and she wanted a jungle/rainforest theme. Luckily, I had made a Noah's Ark cross stitch for my 2nd son when he was born, and he was happy for us to put it in his sister's room for the time being. She is thrilled! (...'tho he didn't want the fairy, naturally, so that's why it's now in the hall ;) )

When people see the things I've drawn they'll often say that I have great drawing skills. Considering the stuff I've managed to do in the past it seems silly to deny it but it always makes me uncomfortable. I always feel like to be able to say you're a "good drawer" you should be able to draw at least decently "live", on the spot from just sight. (Or better yet from just imagination - I strongly envy that scale!). People like those who will do caricatures of you at a mall - those people can draw. I don't really feel I can do that and everything I do ends up being painstakingly labored over before I can make it look at all "right".

I bring this up because there is a nearby art school that does weekly drawing workshops featuring live nude models. I'd always been curious to try it out and see what it was like but a little nervous to since I figured I'd pretty much suck at it. Well, I finally tried it this past weekend and it went quite well! The way this workshop is set up they start by having the model do short five minute poses for awhile and then later do a series of longer 20 minute poses. Though the rough, simple sketches I was able to make during this are nothing special, I'm frankly proud that I was able to actually capture the poses at all! (It actually looks like a human!! :D) So I wanted to show a couple of them to people.

Here's the two best from the 5 minutes sketches:
Nude 1
Nude 2

And the two best from the 20 minutes catches:
Nude 3
Nude 4

No claims to greatness, certainly, but not so bad after all. :)
All in all, it was a really cool experience. I hope to do it again soon.

Very interesting.

(I've personally never found the appeal in drawing a nude, but to each his own. Your sketches are good. The one you have on FB is amazing, actually.)

That's the difference between 20 min and 100+ hours!

yov, I feel the same way with drawing. I can make things look good, eventually. And I absolutely cannot draw something from memory or imagination, I have to be looking at it and basically make a copy. I'm good at that, but that's not ever going to get me anything in the art world. :P Your sketches are good, it's definitely challenging to draw people. :)

:D Well, yeah, that makes sense. But it also shows how amazing your talent truly is!
