Awesome pic Snowdog! :D

We didn't see much of Ranier when we went to WA... that pic in my avatar was taken on the flight home. The pilot announced all the mountains in the range... couldn't stop taking pictures! Was so clear & beautiful!

I'll be sure to snap some pics to share on my trip this time! (The pics from last time are mostly wedding & family pics)

Legolas, I read that book "Into the Wild." :Q

I love the wilderness, camping out, fishing, etc. I just have a real terror of bears though....

Good book, eh? A tragic story...yet raw and close to home for any human, I think.

Well, the weekend trek was a good one! The creek water flows were really low to non-existant, bugs were hungry, and there were signs of a fire to the east, but all in all it was a good weekend!!

I've got pictures to share sometime... if I can ever get them off the dang camera!!

Had a great time in WA. Didn't do any major hiking though. Mostly day trip stuff. Still... it was fun & that's what counts!

Okay, I just scanned and uploaded some pictures from my last trip to the Rockies..

Here's the edge of the Victoria Glacier:

Whatever you do, don't look down when you have to jump over a crevasse :Q :
[ img ]

And here's the base of Mt. Victoria. It goes straight up!
[ img ]

The pass between the mountains:

And here are two shots of Rock Isle Lake. Absolutely stunning!

[ img ]

And here we have Miss Anne Elk... sorry, I mean an elk:
[ img ]

And two shots of ptarmigan on Whistler's Mountain. They're well-camouflaged, so look carefully!

I just realized while going through these pictures how much I want to go back.

Great shots Jude! :) What a beautiful place!!!

I wanted to see elk while I was in WA (along with whales & pretty much any animal I could ;)), but the closest I got was to see the rear of a momma & baby heading into the woods. I didn't tell anyone because my brother has lived there a year & not yet seen the Roosevelt Elk herd that lives near them. Didn't want him to be jealous!

I'm not hardcore like some people here, but I did just get done spending my honeymoon on Isle Royale and really enjoyed it. She insisted that we stay in the lodge :D, but I'd like to go back sometime with just a tent, some food, and a water filter and walk all the way across the island. Here are a couple pictures:

Hey Lego! Good to see ya! (in a Jim Morrisonish voice)

I took a little day-walk on my way home yesterday as it was a beautiful day.

Here is the Gold Creek valley east of Snoqualmie Pass.
The first snow of the fall in the high country...

Wow!...gorgeous indeed, Snowdog! :D Coniferous forests! Nice shot. Looks so clear. Is that a digital camera?

I've got a weekend trip planned for Thanksgiving Weekend...The leaves will be down by then, alas, but it'll still be fun.

Yes, its a Canon A300 Powershot 3.2Mpx.
I set it for the highest resolution and used the road bridge rail as the tripod.

Winter packs can be fun and also a challenge. One of the best places to go out here in Winter is to Cape Alava. Just be prepared to get wet. Usually you are in a fog bank, but its worth it if you catch the day it clears and there is nobody around! Its nice in the summer too, but so many people try and go they only give permits.

You took that picture Snowdog? Wow! :Q It looks professional...like something that could come out of a calendar. It's gorgeous! I wish I had that sort of scenery around me...and nice weather! I can't believe your trees are already starting to change color. Here it's still warm and feels like summer, though we are getting a cold front tonight. :)
