What drama! :Q

It's sad for the game though that the greatest player of this generation should bow like that.

I hope we find out what Materrazi said to provoke it.. the latest suggestion I saw was "dirty terrorist" due to Zidane's mother being of Algerian descent.

With his experience he should have just pointed and laughed.

Zidane cost France the match. Hell of a swansang.

(For all those who know Norwegian...)

Several lip readers have been asked, with these results:
BBC's lip reader wrote:
Materazzi said he hoped Zidane's family would die "an ugly death" - and he accused Zidane of doping when he played for Juventus.
The Sun's lip reader wrote:
"We all know you're the son of a terrorist whore"
Quote:
"Your sister's a whore."
Quote:
When Zidane offered to switch shirts with Materazzi after the game, he got the answer, "I'd rather take the shirt off your wife."
Quote:
Zidane understands Italian well after his years in Juventus, and according to Frere, the whole thing began when Materazzi said that a high ball was not for a «fecchia» (a strong insult in Italy) like Zidane.

Zidane first only laughed at the whole thing, then Materazzi pinched his nipple.

- Don't you like it? he asked.

- A little too hard to make me excited, Zidane replied.

Materazzi kept on:

- Well, I did it that way because I know that's how your mother likes it.
:roll::roll::roll:

Let's hear what Zidane himself has to say, shall we..?

If it can be reliably ascertained what he said I hope he gets in trouble too.. but I won't hold my breath.

And more lip reader theories...
Quote:

"I wish you and your family a horrible death. Go to hell."
Quote:
Zidane's former (and first) coach, Jean Ferrade, died from cancer just before the World Cup.

- I hope Jean suffered, Materazzi said.
One thing is certain: Materazzi can't have said all these things! :Q:roll:

And he has spoken. Wouldn't go into details, but said that Materazzi had said something nasty about his sister and mother. Repeatedly.

Well although Zidane's actions deserved the red card I am very happy he is not sorry for what he did. Cheating is all to prevalent in the game these days whether it be diving or doing what Marco Materazzi did. I hope to see him sanctioned.

Zidane is a class man and this won't for me tarnish in any way his reputation and his legacy.

Materazzi deserved what he got. I just wish Zidane had remembered at the time that a retaliation would affect far more people than just the two of them.

I just heard on the telly that FIFA is opening disciplinary motions against Materazzi. What that means exactly I do not know. I'm not sure if that means that they're opening an official investigation or if they have some evidence already and are going to sanction the Italian footballer...

:bawl:

This is the worst night for England since I started to follow the team :(

How we miss Sven now...

Will this be a wake-up call and produce a positive change before the World Cup? I hope so.

Yeah, poor England. :(

Poor Norway, too, but that hardly feels like a surprise...

Well, at least Steve McClown has been sacked and if England not qualifying is what was needed to make changes that will improve England, then it will be worth it.

Fabio Capello is a serious canidate for the job, so I hear.

Capello seems enthusiastic.. someone who really wants it would be a good thing.

I would prefer an Englishman though.. maybe try a Klinsmann/Germany type manager by going for Alan Shearer.
