Well, I'm back! :D Tired - I haven't slept all night - but really happy.

The movie was great. Tons of eye candy, of course. The multiple story lines and villains were handled really well. I loved Venom. (Though both the arrival of the symbiote and the creation of Sandman were a bit cheap, really. :P) Excellent acting. The final battle scene was amazing - all of the battle scenes, now that you mention it. :blackeye: I jumped in my seat a couple of times!

My objections are that the movie may have been a bit too moralistic, that the ending left too many loose ends (more movies, anyone? :blackeye:), that Gwen Stacy seemed somehow... misplaced, and that I don't think Peter would have treated Mary Jane the way he did in the beginning of the movie. No way, not as much as he loves her.

But I'm satisfied and going to see it again.

And I loved Venom! :D

Saw it today. Went to a 12:30 show.

Overall it was pretty good. There aren't any real SPOILERS here but a few details that you might want to find out for yourself...

Venom essentially made a cameo. No crazy tongue or awesome voice like in the cartoon. Other than that and his obvious smaller size he was done quite well.

Sandman for me served absolutely no purpose in advancing the plot. He seemed to be filler, another villain.

The Harry/Peter storyline was done pretty well. Again this movie had a few too many inspirational talks and not enough comic book stuff. People aren't going to a movie about a superhero for moral lessons, they're going to see action ans suspense.

Overall I think i'd give it a 7.5/10.

Peter goes incredibly emo in this film, it was kinda funny actually.

I maintain that the best character in all three movies is JJ Jameson editor of the Daily Bugle. Fantastic casting for him, he continues to be great comedic relief.

Saw it, loved it. I'd say that I wish they'd gone a different route, had a tighter more focused storyline. But what they chose to do, they did really well, IMO. Overall, very few complaints with what they did and overall, I think I liked it better than 2 (which I thought was the one with "a few too many inspirational talks").

Went to see it again with a bunch of friends the other night. We were all in a group together so I had no choice, I didn't really want to see it again.

Most of my friends had similar views as mine. Waaaaaayyyy too many women moments. Is it a love story or a superhero story? I liked the film even less this second time. There were a few things I noticed about the characters and they now all have names.

There's "Emo Parker".
There's "Anorexic Venom."
There's "Harry Scarface."

And someone asked a good question, what character in the movie didn't cry? Here are the ones that cried that I can name off hand, Parker, Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Aunt May, Harry.

This second time the crying and all the women talk got to me. I review my review and give it a 6/10 instead.

The action sequences were fantastic, better than the first two. If they had done more action and less touchy-feely crap then IMHO it would have been a lot better.

I had just watched 1 and 2 the day before seeing 3. Peter cries a plenty in both those movies and there is a huge amount of focus on the love story in both movies. In fact, come to think of it, yes, I would say all three of them are love stories. Despite that, I wouldn't be surprised if 3 has about as much action as 1 and 2 combined.

I don't blame people for not liking 3 as much but that particular criticism seems misguided unless you didn't like the first 2 either.

Well I wasn't the biggest fan of number 1 either. Number two I liked. It seemed more focused. I guess 3 just seemed too dragged out.

And it ticked me off how they played with our minds with the previews showing the symbiot so that we'd figure the film would contain venom as the main villain and even at the beginning the meteor falls and the symbiot appears and then we don't see venom until the last 15 mins of the movie. Best Spidey enemy and he barely had air-time.

The biggest opening of all time and only three people have any comments about it?

Yeah, I've found that kinda strange.

BTW, loved the fight scene between Spidey (black) and Sandman in the subway system. It had some great camera work.

I liked it.

Teh crusty editor is so perfect and in keeping with the orginal comic book editor. :D

Peter was pretty Emo. But not so much that it was to far and un-Peter to the point that I was put off by it.

There was a lot of moralizing. I wish they could have done that bit more subtily. And the part about having choice almost seemed tacked on at the end as an afterthought.

Mary Jane and Peter showed very well what it was like when you don't communicate. It rips relationships apart. They never really made up on that issue.

The movie certainly left some unresolved issues. I hope they do another one!

I hated the fact they killed Harry. They fixed the relationship with Peter and then he dies?!!? I was bummed over that one.

I liked the second half, where the actual action was. But the beginning bored me to death.

I haven't seen a single one of them. *cough*

But Aggie said it was good, so I guess I may consider watching them one day. :P I think they'd be....er....much better without Kirsten Dunst. >.> She should've stopped acting at Claudia in Interview with the Vampire.

Kirsten Dunst is teh Awesome

I once heard a film critic describe her in Spidey 1 as "hotter than the hinges on the gates of hell". :)
