I've cried a thousand oceans, and I would cry a thousand more if that's what it takes to sail you home.

Another thread I need to catch up with, but for now, just thought I would post a video I watched a few minutes ago (am trying to make an effort to listen to all the YouTube songs posted at my gossip sites). :P The Decemberists - O Valencia. I don't get it at all :blackeye: but they seem to have fans around here, so you guys will enjoy it more than I. :)

Guy falls for mob boss's daughter and tries to run away. Mob boss hunts them down. The mob boss's daughter turns out to be a traitorous bitch who was using Guy to get away from her dad after she stole dad's money. Bitch gets caught. Guy gets revenge on the friend that gave them away. Cue blood. The end.

Compared to... band writes song, band performs song in video, band refrains from blood-letting?

Complicated. ;) And freaking weird.

Well, yes, by that standard any video that tries not to suck is probably gonna be weird and complicated. :P

Maybe it's the neverending captions trying to explain who everyone is. And the quirky characters. And my lack of enthusiasm for the song.

"Greedy Fly" by Bush is my all-time favorite video (yes, I'm giving away my big list that I never seem to post) :P and features lots of strange imagery, but the story seems more solid, so it's not the high aim I'm criticising. Just the tone, I suppose? Outright disturbing material is easier for me to handle than black comedy, which I am usually just confused by. :P

You post that video after calling Valencia weird?

There was a story?

I don't particularly care for the Valencia video. I just thought it was, you know, a pretty straightfoward story.

One is awesome, one is just odd.

:suspicious: It's a seven-minute mini-movie, I would hope there's a story...

There is a crime and then it flashes back to the lead-up to said crime. A guy's fighting his inner demon or something. Inner angel? Anyway, angel loses, there is hot goo and shirtlessness, then the cops show up to find the man beside his dead twin. So he recounts the tale to the cops and that's where we began. Ta-da. It blew me away when I first saw it and still gives me chills. Best video I've ever seen in all respects. The director went on to make the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake, which was also spectacular, imo. He is able to make icky things look beautiful... not a la Tarsem with THE CELL, but I mean, you recognize that they're icky and yet the cinematography is just so fabulous, you can't help but keep your eyes on the screen.

Felt this video was really wonderful:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7rgni2nvuE Invincible by Muse.

In parts looks like paper cutouts, cheap 2D animation, and fully-rendered 3D. It's lovely. Don't care as much for the song, but I do love the band.

Ha! Neato video, what a great idea. :)

I'm indifferent about Muse in general. The song is an adequate Coldplay ripoff, I suppose.

Well, as soon as I realized they sounded like Radiohead, I can understand why that would bother people. But I love almost every song of their I own, so can't deny that they're pretty damn fabulous.

I laughed for like 20 minutes the first time I saw that. :damnfunny:

Apparently the sign he holds at the end says something cool but it's impossible to make out. Bummer.

Anybody else want a cardboard doggie?
