I have never laughed so much at a film! Nor have I ever heard an audience have so much fun.

If you can handle some crudeness, this may be the funniest thing you ever see.

The rather prissy reviewer in the Vancouver Sun LOVED this movie.

Of course, the politically correct crowd is having hissy fits all over the place.

Good.

It's good for them. :D

I hope it plays in my town. :x

Leave it to me to see 67 movies at the theatre so far this year and still be disappointed at what I've missed. ;)

I cringe at Fawlty Towers even as I laugh. There's no way I could sit through the whole Borat movie...in public. :D I'll have to wait for the DVD, so I won't feel so bad about averting my eyes.

Having Borat himself wandering around Amsterdam promoting the thing (was all over the news :Q )kind of leaves me to wonder whether I should spend money on it and go see it or what for some illegal copy and watch it for free  choices.

Borat is storming at the box office AND with critics:

94% at RT

I don't think I've ever seen a comedy so highly praised for getting big laughs.

B.O. was higher it's second week, primarily because it added a bunch of theaters. Still impressive though. Haven't seen it yet.

Just saw it-- LOVED IT. Satire at its best! My mom saw it. She hated it. She thought it was disgusting. I was cracking up. I also love laughing at stupid Americans (southerners and midwesterners the most). Some of what Borat exposes about people's views in America is chilling. There is a scene where he wants to buy a gun to defend himself from the jew and asks what gun should he use; the salesman doesn't even hesitate to pick 9mm. Of course he doesn't sell him the gun, though (only because he's not a citizen). My gf thinks its hilarious, but it worries her since she is a jew.

Holy moly.

Um, it was funny. :D I nearly had a laughing fit during several scenes, but the naked fight between Azamat and Borat was the most horrific thing I've seen in my life. Fate was not shining down upon me to have the release of this and Jackass Number Two being so close together, or that I was mailed a copy of Caligula. It has been a rough couple of months for my eyes. :Q

I did like it, though. Pretty uncomfortable to watch in parts. I feel bad that the church scene made me so awkward, but the thing is that I'm not a fan of drunks either because they always seem so fake. Same for the die-hard religious folks. So I'm glad that there were scenes of both in this movie. Easier to compare. :P I was just as embarrassed for the churchies as I was for those frat boys in the camper.

Will have to start using some of his phrases in everyday conversation. Favorite being "water panties" = bathing suit.

It's scary how the scene where he thinks the Jewish couple have shape-shifted into cockroaches is actually less racist than the senior at the rodeo telling him to shave off his mustache so that he wouldn't look so conspicuously foreign and make everyone think he had a bomb strapped to his chest. Someone like Borat wouldn't know any better because, at least as portrayed in the film, that part of the world is very insular and is not so much racist but hates everyone who is different from them, but in America, we have choices and information, so when someone still opts for ignorance, its pretty sad. Like those drunks wishing we had slaves.

Anyway, I enjoyed it but am not sure I could watch much of the tv show, simply because I'd get depressed after a while of seeing all these gross attitudes. :P Oh, and his attempt at stealing Pam Anderson was brilliant.

I don't know whether I can face seeing this or not. The reviews have been excellent, but I've always found Sacha Baron Cohen way tooover-the-top to take in more than the teeniest dose!

You guys are making me think about changing my mind. Although knowing me, I'll have to wait until it makes it onto terrestrial telly.

Well I was unimpressed. Sure it had its funny parts but at the end I was left thinking: that's it?

I think my favorite scene was when the telegram arrives and the hotel guy has to tell Borat that his wife died and then he high-fives him.

Overall though I think it's been blown way out of proportion. This is nothing groundbreaking nor singularily fantastic. The whole Pamela Anderson thing was set up and I think it took away from the movie.

6/10

I saw it last weekend. It was absolutely hilarious but I was let down a bit. I was expecting the humor to be smarter, more insightful. Instead the humor was a bit more on the slapsticky side. Still hilarious though.
