Holy moly.
Um, it was funny.
I nearly had a laughing fit during several scenes, but the naked fight between Azamat and Borat was the most horrific thing I've seen in my life. Fate was not shining down upon me to have the release of this and Jackass Number Two being so close together, or that I was mailed a copy of Caligula. It has been a rough couple of months for my eyes.
I did like it, though. Pretty uncomfortable to watch in parts. I feel bad that the church scene made me so awkward, but the thing is that I'm not a fan of drunks either because they always seem so fake. Same for the die-hard religious folks. So I'm glad that there were scenes of both in this movie. Easier to compare.
I was just as embarrassed for the churchies as I was for those frat boys in the camper.
Will have to start using some of his phrases in everyday conversation. Favorite being "water panties" = bathing suit.
It's scary how the scene where he thinks the Jewish couple have shape-shifted into cockroaches is actually less racist than the senior at the rodeo telling him to shave off his mustache so that he wouldn't look so conspicuously foreign and make everyone think he had a bomb strapped to his chest. Someone like Borat wouldn't know any better because, at least as portrayed in the film, that part of the world is very insular and is not so much racist but hates everyone who is different from them, but in America, we have choices and information, so when someone still opts for ignorance, its pretty sad. Like those drunks wishing we had slaves.
Anyway, I enjoyed it but am not sure I could watch much of the tv show, simply because I'd get depressed after a while of seeing all these gross attitudes.
Oh, and his attempt at stealing Pam Anderson was brilliant.
