I was given the first series box set for my eighteenth, and I'm currently three episodes in. I think it's fantastic! I've already watched the last episode but in a way I think that will make things really interesting for me, because I have yet to make my mind up about precisely what the last episode meant.

Also, the 1980s version, 'Ashes to Ashes'. Good idea? Bad idea?

I only saw the second series. I must say it was a ridiculous idea turned into genius by first class acting and brilliant scripting. There will have to be a list of Gene Hunt's one liners.

e.g. He'll be as nervous as a short nun at a penguin shoot.

Gene Hunt was the best thing about Life On Mars (well, and I wouldn't kick Sam out of bed either :D). I thought it was a very good programme, it combined sci-fi and cop shows in a very clever way; and some of the episodes were pure genius. My favourite has to be the one where Sam and Annie go to a swingers party and their fake names are Tony and Cherie Blair... :D

I missed it, but I think we might end up embroiled in Ashes to Ashes (Din heard the soundtrack on a trailer and decided it was a 'must see').

The detail shows what appears to be a humanoid figure.

The area of detail is shown in the picture below:

I both loved and hated this show - sort of my same feelings about 24 :P I will be watching Ashes to Ashes though, and no doubt love and hate it as well.

Leoba - Steve and I have Life on Mars on dvd for this region. I'll send it with Steve when he goes back to London and you can borrow it if you like

They are currently running season 2 of "Life On Mars" here on BBCA on demand, whenever it is on normally, I am always missing it. I have to say, I like the show, but Season 2 is a bit weirder than Season 1, which we could watch here last year. I am not through watching all epis yet, I hope it can stick to the format without falling apart. The phone calls and tv bits are getting a little strange, as is "Sam's purpose for being there."

The first episode of the new Ashes To Ashes aired this week. One of the best 1 hours of TV I've seen.

For those who missed it, you can watch it on www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer but it will omly be available till Wednesday.

For those who haven't seen the end of LoM Series 2, don't watch it as it has spoilers about what happens to Sam.

It's really hard for me to get it to play. :( It doesn't buffer when I pause it so I have to watch it badly broken up.

But thanks for posting, Steve, because I was far too lazy to go thread-digging. :P
