I started a new file in OoT today.

I just started the forest temple, I have a 20 pound fish, 47 spiders and a 52 second record on the race track.

I have played that game waay too much.

I just traded in Animal Crossing: Wild World for DS at my local game shop for a GameCube. At the weekend I'm going to buy the compilation Zelda disc, and my friend is lending me Twilight Princess. I've never owned a full-sized console which plays the Zelda series before! :D I can't wait! :D:D:D

Oooh good luck with Zelda, Pips! Such a bloody good game. Which reminds me, I need to get cracking on Twilight Princess so that I can beat it before I leave for school in August! I'm going to miss teh Wii. :(

And I'm playing Animal Crossing right now too--the original version. It's so damned entertaining! Easy to beat, but I'm working on catching all of the fish and insects and collecting all of the painting and fossils. I have like two more fossils to get. Over halfway done with the fish and insects, but those are really hard! And I've only got like four paintings. :P

I got to play with a Wii this last week on vacation.

It was awesome. But somewhat annoying sometimes.

But more awesome then annoying.

The people wouldn't let me try Twilight Princess...I got to watch them do it. Controls seemed a little tricky, but that was probably just because the person who did get to play wasn't that good at it.

Overall it was awesome.

And I want one.

I got my Wii modded last night. I can now import games from the US and pay a LOT less. Of course, I can also download for free from the internet, but I prefer to have the box and everything. :)

How'd you do that?

A lot of me just wants to go out and buy a Wii right now, but it would most likely be going to England where we'd have to get a power converter and then I'd worry about it getting fried. I had a friend who's husband is in the military and they had two playstations get fried on them whilst in England.

How much does the Wii cost in the UK? I'm quite sure it a fair bit cheaper in the US.

We just got done with the water temple and only have 49 spiders. :P

I've been a bit disappointed with the last few Zelda games, to be honest. The stories keep getting weirder and weirder while the jokes get cornier and cornier. And they've become so formulaic; playing one though is almost like a recitation. Each one manages to come up with some new "theme", but it's still the same characters and the same items and the same puzzles. TP seems to be bucking this trend a bit (from what I've seen of it), but it's also setting new records in the weirdness department.

And I agreee with Eru on dungeons being less fun than the rest of the game.

Modding is simple enough if you're handy with a soldering Iron, but it doesn require a bit of nerve! You could easily end up with a €250 white paperweight.

I think the UK retail is £169.

Iavas is good with a soldering iron.

The price difference isn't as big as I thought...only around $35.

Eru, there are 47 spiders to be got before you even take the master sword.

You just have to memorise where they are.

First you have to actually know where they are. ;)

.
.

I saw Animal Crossing on Best Buy's website and I was wondering what exactly is the game about?

I just finished LoZ Links Awakening (GB) for the first time ever. I've had it for 11 years now. The last temple is very difficult, especially the halfway boss, but the last boss is ridiculously simple to beat. I spent years on that last dungeon, and then beat the last boss with one whack of the boomerang.

I feel so cheated...

't'has been a good week for me Zelda wise. I got the biggest quiver, the cow in the house and so on and so forth, and I haven't even started the fire temple.

Edit: btw, Eru, in case you haven't already noticed, you will know if you've got all the golden skulltulas in a place because on the map subscreen in the start menu, the symbol will spider be next to the name.

The NPD Group released videogame hardware and software sales data for July and, yet again, Nintendo dominated the charts. Amazingly, Wii and DS together outsold final figures for PlayStation 2, PSP, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 combined. Nintendo's two systems have held the number one and two top slots in the hardware sales charts for nine months running.

For the first time since its launch, Wii outsold consistent performer DS. Nintendo's home console was the best-selling hardware in July with approximately 425,000 units moved. DS trailed close behind with 405,000 sales. Surprisingly, Sony's last-generation system, PlayStation 2, was the third best-seller, amassing about 221,000 in sales. PSP sales were at a solid 213,000.

Xbox 360 sales were lower than expected at about 169,000 units. However, even with a semi-price drop, PlayStation 3 could not quite topple Microsoft's numbers. Sony's Blu-ray-equipped console managed only 158,000 in sales - about 50,000 more than it has in previous months, but still not enough to pose a serious threat to Microsoft.

I finally found someone close with a Wii and got to play it, as expected it is awesome. It really is about time that Nintendo was back on top and the Wii will definitely do that. I mean its been past time for a fully backwards compatible yet innovative console. Suhweet.

heehee...

I'm nearly through Phantom hourglass.
got it last week and I love it.

It's just difficult for me to find time to play as I have to share my DS lite with my seven-year-old daughter. :rage:
but I made a deal - I'll get myself a new shiny silver one for my b-day and she gets the old black one for herself :D (the one she battered ;) )

Would you recommend Phantom Hourglass for a 9 year old girl who's never played a Zelda game before? Christmas ideas... :)

Yes. My daughter never played Zelda before - I never let her (all mine!! ) and said, she could not play it before she can't read...

Now she's trying PH herself. Up to now she had fun with Nintendogs, Princess Peach, some Barbie Princess game on the DS and is fond of Dr. Kawashima ( mostly the piano game and bazilla hunting ;) ).

PH is rather easy on the riddles, you move Link completely with the stylus and as in every other game of the series, every weapon and item is explained - how to use etc. The second boss is tricky, as you can't see it. You see yourself from the bosses view on the upper screen, and your view on the lower one, but the boss is invisible before you hit it..... That was the only part I found difficult.

Jana has school holidays this week - I will be able to tell you more about her progress next week ;) - I'll be back.
