I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

So when I saw this billboard I was weary since it was a western and it had Russell Crowe in it and I can't stand Russell Crowe, BUT Christian Bale was also in the movie and I LOVE him I said 'oh why the hell not?" and saw it last night.

AMAZING! Crowe and Bale are two of the most brilliant actors of our time. Crowe has once again entered into my good graces and Bale continues to be magnificent. The characters were compelling and the story was great. The good guys were good and the bad guys were bad! If you are like me an westerns just don't get the excitement flowing push those feelings away and see this movie!

They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

I've wanted to see this (with no reason, really) since I first heard about it.

I hope I'll get to. :)

The world has been waiting too long for a good Western.

Looking forward to seeing it.

I want to see this. I like westerns, liked Unforgiven (the remake with Eastwood) and Open Range, which is one of very few of Costner films I like. Of course I liked Open Range because of Duvalls character, he reminded me of my own grandfather. But then again Pale Rider and The Outlaw Josie Wales are two of my all time favorite movies.

It doesn't beat out Tombstone as my favorite, but it is certainly highly entertaining.

Very good film. I don't like Westerns as a rule. However my cousins (who's last name ironically is "Rule") dragged me to see it. I was very impressed. Good acting, as you would expect from that cast. Crowe's character was very interesting.

The film has a few brutal parts and contains the "F" word two or three times, just incase anyone was interested in taking their kids or something and wanted to know.

I really liked it. Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors.....but despite that I thought he did a good job, it doesn't beat Unforgiven.

Loved it!

I agree it seems like ages since a really good western was made. This was it IMHO. I hate to gush because nothing ruins a movie like high expectations that don't pan out. But it was excellent!

I think the actor that played Charlie Prince should have gotten a best supporting actor or something. I can't imagine someone else doing that role as well as he did. Killer Deadly, crazy like a fox, and fabulous shot. Also, I want his jacket. :)

Not a perfect movie but one I thoroughly enjoyed.

I even bought and framed a movie poster from the movie that's hanging in my apartment. :)

I don't agree with that as the bad guy turned out to have his good moments and the good gay had some darker spells as well. ;)

Other than that I agree with the previous comments: Great film!

And yeah, I watched it on DVD, so the comment is a bit late...

My mom rented this (actually, I think she checked it out at the library, but the principle stays the same) and is bugging me to watch it.

I told her I've wanted to for a long time and she went "You should have told me it was such a good movie!"

If my mom likes a movie, it's really good. And stuff. :damnfunny:

So it's on my list of movies to watch in the next month now, as opposed to my "watch these movies before you die" list.
