Ew, a Jaws hater.
No, the movie itself is not really scary, just the subject, and afterwards when you realize the affect and are uncomfortable to even get in the bathtub.
I just have a love/hate relationship with sharks. Well, it's mostly the great white that scares me because it's the one everybody focuses on, but the basking shark is way up there, despite being toothless. It's the black hole of a mouth I can't stand. Then sand tiger sharks because they look so
dumb, like zombie killing machines. And probably makos thanks to Deep Blue Sea. Everything else is just spiffy, though.
I just finished my first Peter Benchley novel (not Jaws) and based on that plus Jaws being one of the few movies generally considered better than it's book counterpart, I won't jump in with high expectations but look forward to reading such a classic.

My childhood heroes.
Made me love sharks.
I definitely got some of their books after seeing the movie. And I love that the shot of the shark tearing the cage apart was real. Some poor thing stuck in it and they kept the camera rolling. Great stuff.

Oh great.
How many movie-goers will now start to fear that the
Carcharodon megalodon is still out there?
... But it is.
Uh, I mean,
IT IS!
And how many sharks will have to die for that.
I don't think it's bad as it was in the 70's. Nothing like Jaws had ever been seen before so it was kind of a frenzy. So many more people these days know the trivia fact about you being more likely to get stung by a bee than bit by a shark.
Most of my favorite shark movies were about megs.
I can't
wait to see the film since the book was supposed to be excellent.
Besides, it's not the meg I'm afraid of...
