What movies have scared you enough to look around to see if the shadows are shifting in your living room?

Last night I watched The Number 23 and it scared the crap out of me. I was alone in the house and everything was dark and strangly quiet, those factors didn't help.

So any film scare you?

The first Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Still makes me look over my shoulder from time to time.

I've cried a thousand oceans, and I would cry a thousand more if that's what it takes to sail you home.

TWT... *shakes head* The only thing that made me jump in that film was all the sex scenes... cuz I had to reach for the remote and turn the volume down before my family heard.

I would probably still be really uncomfortable watching The Ring in the dark. My room is full of posters and the floor's covered in suitcases and piles of laundry, so the shadows are already suspicious-looking and put me in a constant state of alertness.

No way would I watch Jaws without a protective shield of stuffed animals and intense light shone into every last corner of the room. I played the soundtrack the other week and screamed every time the main theme came on just thinking about the damn shark.

The Grudge ghosts freaked me out. Asian horror movies are just terrifying in general.

Suspiria, Amityville: Dollhouse, and Stir of Echoes got so scary for me early on, that I stopped them and had to continue during the day.

I've seen tons of Asian horror movies and they always seem to creep me out. Anything involving children too is also a surefire way to scare me.

Back when I worked in a video store horror fans always came to me first. :D

If you want something short and light give the "Masters of Horror" series a shot. Each DVD contains 2 films. Cigarette Burns on Volume 2 is my personal favorite. I forget the title but that movie about the bunch of girls that go in the cave and run into underground critters was pretty entertaining and much much more enjoyable with surround sound.

'The Ring' definitely would be topping that list. I watched it alone and it totally freaked me out (though I still think I missed some of the clarification of the plot ... maybe because I ran to the kitchen a few times too often, to go rummaging in the cupboards :scarey:).

I don't like movies with sharks, don't know why, but the thought alone scares me witless. There's a new one coming up next year Meg (even though, or maybe because, I read the book a lot of years ago), and I hope I'll never bump into any of the trailers either. :help:

Movies usually don't scare me into turning on lights. I am the worst person in the world to watch scary movies with, even though I love them. I usually end up rooting for the killer, or doing the whole 'well if your dumb enough to go back into the house' The Ring was scary, but the second viewing was not good for me to sit through. And as for the Rob Zombie films, I always end up making them into Shaun of the Dead with my running commentary.

I am not fun if you want to be scared during a scary movie. Fun if you want to be laughing. I especially love to turn the volume down and do my own dialouge through a scary movie.

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

The Exorcist will make me turn on the lights, cover my ears, sleep with the lights on, and weep like a little girl. As it should for any good Catholic :D

The Ring made me sleep with my lights on, but I've seen it a couple more times since then and am over it.

I love scary movies!

Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

Alien was too boring to be scary.

I need to watch the first two again some day.

You must have watched the version without the subsonics if you thought it was boring. :D

Tones below the range of human hearing that you can still feel, and which creep you out. The initial run of Alien had them in theatres with big enough sound systems.

Think the subwoofer, only used for evil. :D

Everyone knows that AlienS was far superior than Alien which was a bit slow but still a good film :)

Ooo, I love the use of sound in horror films. Probably all of my favorites are exceptional in that area.

Whether I can hear it or not.
