So, on our local "golden oldies" station they have "musical mystery tracks" every day. A listener will submit 4 songs, which have a common theme. Recently the submission was a song by Jefferson Airplane, a song by The Cars, a song by Grand Funk Railroad, and the last by Led Zeppelin: all modes of transport.

Real rock geeks will come up with 4 numbers in which there is a band member named Fred, or all four bands will have a dead drummer, or something like that.

But I'm not a rock geek, I'm just a kind of casual fan.

So I thought, bands with colours in their names: Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, etc. So I will submit an entry with a song by each, and see if it gets accepted. Only, I'm going to have to look up the name of a song by all of them except Pink Floyd!!!!

Or songs with colours, you know, The Green, Green Grass of Home, etc. Yellow Submarine.

The listener who submits the songs gets a prize and of course, the guesser gets a prize. The other day Taylor and I knew the theme was Body Parts (ZZ Top, "She's got legs", etc.) but we couldn't get through on the phone.

I thought it might make a fun thread here.

And another just because I can.

The Rolling Stones "Heart of Stone",
Marianne Faithfull's "As Tears Go By",
The Kinks "You Really Got Me",
The Who "I Can't Explain".

This is the list I'm submitting to the radio station:

"Slide it in" by Whitesnake, "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, "Heaven & Hell" by Black Sabbath, and "Burnin' for You" by Blue Oyster Cult.

It's such an easy list, though. I bet they've had it before. I don't listen to this station except in the car, so I don't hear the contest that often.

As for your list, I will think it over.

Oh, that's easy. You want I should tell, or do you want to wait to see if anyone else is as smart as me? :D

Vison, can you think of anyone besides Whitesnake? I mean, David Coverdale was alright in Deep Purple, but he made want to toss my cookies in Whitesnake. We won't even go into his stint with Jimmy Page. Oops, I gave away the answer.

How about Green Day? Or does this radio station not go in for that new fangled punk stuff?

I don't know if Green Day is old enough.

It's a Golden Oldies station, and they say in the rules for this contest that the songs have to come from their play list.

I am really not a rock geek. I like what I like, but I know nothing.

I'd like to do songs with colours, rather than bands: White Wedding, Yellow Submarine, A Whiter Shade of Pale, Brown Sugar, etc.

I'm hoping my chums here will come up with 5 brilliant songs in sets, with a theme. (they want 5, in case no one gets it by the 4th).

Brown-Eyed Girl, Black Betty (that's the title, right?)--to keep in mind, vison, if you go that route.

Holby, I have no clue.

I've been aware of that for some time but I like you anyway. :)

Well Tinwë got this one;
The Rolling Stones "Heart of Stone",
Marianne Faithfull's "As Tears Go By",
The Kinks "You Really Got Me",
The Who "I Can't Explain".

Jimmy Page played guitar on all of these songs as a session man.

As for this;

Led Zeppelin
Mariah Carey
Pat Benatar
Tank

Each of them had a different song called Heartbreaker.
Meaning the title was the same but the songs were not.

:bawl: :bawl: :bawl:

Holby's being mean to me!

I can't help it you pick OLD songs I don't know because I'm too young to remember them! :P

(Okay, so that's totally a lie, but it sounds good. And some of them are before my time. :pout: )
