Talk about a twisted fucking movie. Geez!

But an excellent portrayal of greed. Daniel Day Lewis was otherworldly. Worth watching, but it will leave you disturbed and depressed(if you're not already there.:P).

I watched it today and found it a chore to get through, tbh. Daniel Day-Lewis is awesome but I felt like I was watching an alternate reality where his Bill the Butcher character from Gangs of New York moves out west and becomes polite.

I think the film's title is better applied to Sweeney Todd, but certainly when there was violence? It was some of the most disturbing I've seen. Both times he attacks Eli were unbearable. Speaking of which, Paul Dano was the real star of the show for me. Nice follow-up to Little Miss Sunshine, I look forward to seeing any projects he works on in the future.

The ending was all sorts of ridiculous. Talk about scenery chewing.

And sorry, yov, but I didn't think the music was anything special! Kind of distracting, too.

The ending kinda blew a lot of the film for me. I still enjoyed the movie a lot but by the end it had started feeling kinda silly, imo.

Yeah, I agree it was a chore to get through. Just slow, and kind of boring.

Yeah, the music was annoying!!!

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Talk about a long ass movie feeling long! But I thought Daniel Day Lewis was frickin' amazing!!! The music created tension so I never knew what to expect but then again I didn't know what to expect half the time so...

SPOILER(S) BELOW!

I loved the relationship between Lewis and his son until the ending where things got sour. Eli deserved to be jerked around by Daniel but the last scene with him clubbing the pastor to death with a bowling pin was a bit unnerving.

And Daniel had some witty one liners that made the movie!

Why do you weep?

Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

People on LJ are having fun with the milkshake line, I noticed lots of icons with him drinking frothy strawberry ones lol.

Thought y'all might enjoy Vern's review of the movie. idk I love him.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD has the feeling of greatness. It has the smell of greatness, the texture of it. It flirts with greatness. I'm pretty sure it even left the club with greatness last night but there is no way yet for us to know if it got lucky with greatness. We can only catch up with it later and ask it. If it turns out later that it was only faking it I'll have to admit it had me fooled.
EDIT: ha, speaking of the milkshake line, I just read in the news (02/08/08) that Paramount was having a laugh at it themselves:

And here's one of the icons I found:

I really want to see this one.

Now that I have a well-paying job I'll be able to see it when it hits the theater up the road.

You pick up references here and there, I guess. I've never seen No Country but I knew about the cattle prod or whatever it is thanks to the Oscar cookies that Elenis makes every year lol.

I concur good sir. The filmography was very very well done. I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

Funny *E* :)
