I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Ditto! Want Ellen Page to win the Oscar she's was sweet and sassy :D. And Bleeker holy cute geeky high schooler (I LOVE Michael Cera). The entire cast worked well together I loved it.

They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

It's quite possible I hated this movie more than any other movie I've ever seen save Pearl Harbor.

Whenever I hear that people liked it [ img ]

Just checking in with a neutral opinion. :P

It was OK, light, fluffy, and entertaining but not Oscar material.

Oscar material = crap to me most of the time so...obviously Juno should not win a single Oscar :P

I would like to rent this, but after Little Miss Sunshine, I'm not expecting this kind of film to be Oscar-worthy.

Ok, pet peeve coming up.

Why does something have to be dark and gritty to be Oscar-worthy? If you make the best comedy ever, why can't it also be the best film of the year?

(ps - on a side note, the best comedy of the year was Knocked Up, not Juno.)

I haven't seen either, and thats not my point. I'm not saying this IS the best comedy of the year. I'm saying if "Insert Name Here" is the best movie of the year, and its a comedy, (or god forbid, a musical!) why shouldn't it win?

I know it wasn't your point. :) It's just driving me nuts cuz IMO Knocked Up is 100 times the movie Juno is but Juno is the one getting nominated. Crazy pills, I tells ya. :P

And musicals have been huge critical successes recently. Since Moulin Rouge, I think at least two or three musicals have been nominated for BP, which is impressive considering that there aren't that many musicals released.

Because the Oscars are a serious matter, they need to show that the movie industry isn't a bunch of laughing hee-haws. That movies are serious and are there to express issues not just for frivolity and entertainment.

Has anyone seen the recent clips of Mitt Romney quoting "Who Let The Dogs Out?" while meeting numerous black youths? That is about the best way I can describe this movie.

Juno was absolutely fantastic. I'd say a film comparable in genre to Little Miss Sunshine. Ultimately wittier though.

I'm very happy it won best screenplay, because if it deserved any Oscar, then that was definately it. Ellen Page was fantastic, but compared to other performances nominated, she didn't deserve the win, definately the nod though.

Two of my best friends went to school with Michael Cera. Said he was never around much, probably off filming Arrested Development (of which there is supposed to be a movie huzzah!). He's from Brampton where I lived up until recently.

And Ellen Page is the exact same age as me, day, month year and everything. I want to marry her... :uhoh:
