Now that it's fall, I'm examining the leaves of the blackcurrant bush. There are no green aphids, but there are these little black-coloured insects. I don't know what they are, and an image search of "blackcurrant pests" didn't produce anything that looked like them. I don't know if they're harmful, but I sprayed the plant full-blast with the hose, and that seems to have removed most of them. Temporarily? I'll have to check regularly.
I'm just trying to protect next year's harvest. Based on the size of the bush, I should have enough to make a batch of jam and a couple of mixed-fruit pies. Maybe one of these years...
