well, the score was instrumental to much of the brilliance of the film... and I'm not one to usually notice such things. it was very subtle in most places, very obvious (but eerie to an extreme) in others, and totally absent in other parts you would expect it to be there.
The Joker, is not only as evil as evil can be, but he's also quite funny, in an extremely morbid way of course. I was laughing out loud several times... which makes sense, in a twisted sort of way...
I'm trying not to give anything away
, but it's hard
.
Through most of the first half of the movie, I felt like I might end up being disappointed, that the hype had been too much. The "plot" as it's set up seems a bit boring, and mostly seems to be setting up some daredevil stunts for Batman. Fun, and good, but nothing new.
That's when Ledger's Joker fully takes over the film. The movie starts as a normal comic book batman action popcorn flick... but eventually it descends into a nightmarish psychological thriller that creates such a perfect picture of all the characters involved, that you can't help but recognize it's brilliance.
I'm still in quite a bit of awe over it.
