Just wondering - how many people saw it in IMAX?

I saw it again tonight - and it's still soooooo good. I even think I valued its qualities more now that I didn't sat gripping my seat and holding my breath, ya'know. :blackeye:

Also, after listening to the soundtrack for two days (and seeing the movie again), I take back anything negative I might have said about the score. (Though I still feel this is a score that's absolutely best together with its movie, more than when you listen to it alone.)

Edit: Interesting. I see from TV spots on the internet that the movie's rated PG 13 in the US. Over here, it's 15 (meaning you have to be 15 or older to watch it alone, down to 12 you're allowed with parents). I hadn't expected it to be high; but then again, the next age level is 11.

Saw it on IMAX today. Honestly, I don't really think the movie is suited for it. The screen is so huge you can't see everything at once. It makes it harder to keep track of thing IMO. But some of the rooftop and skyscraper scenes are reallt genuinely dazzling. Just not to make up for the negatives.

I saw it in IMAX first without seeing it in regular. I found nothing to complain about.

I thought my heart was going to stop in that scene near the beginning where the guy sallies to the building across the street and the roof just disappears from under you as you follow him along.

The only thing I like more than The Dark Knight at the moment is my new avatar and signature. :P Seeing it for the fourth time tomorrow with mom. Wish I'd been able to catch an IMAX screening in Toronto last week but couldn't fit it into the schedule. Without making trouble anyway, heh.

What exactly is IMAX? Can you watch films in 3D or is it just that the screens are curved and so the viewing feels more interactive? I saw an LOTR trilogy on an IMAX screen once but it just seemed like a rather large television. Didn't do much for me.

You can have both 3D and IMAX, but they're two different technologies so having one doesn't automatically mean you have the other.

Real IMAX films have higher resolution, and more frames per second, giving a smoother and more realistic moving picture.

LOTR wasn't filmed in IMAX, so displaying it on an IMAX screen only gives you the benefit of a bigger screen; however, it's less picture spread across more screen, which would weaken the resolution. Also, you wouldn't have the benefit of more frames per second.

My batwings were in the shop, so I had to get a drive with the parents. Less opportunity to go off and do my own thing. :(

Thanks, Jude!

I think the thing I love most about Nurse-Joker is that he's still wearing his awesome socks.

I mean, Nurse-Joker is completely awesome anyway. But I love that he's still wearing the socks.

I think I love everything about (most forms of) the Joker though. >_>

Probably the best comic book movie I've seen. Took what worked in the first Batman Begins and build up from there. I've seen it several times now.

I'm sure the third one will be great too. Not sure who will be the villian though. Nolan seems to be going for realism in his characters. No supernatural stuff (I like). But his list of good villians seems to be pretty close to empty now. The riddler is to close to Joker at this point IMO. The two options that would seem to be possiblities would be Bane or Catwoman. Thoughts?

Spolier!!

When the new suit came out Batman asked if it was dog proof and Morgan said it was but not cat proof. Catwoman reference?)

I think Bane would be extremely hard to pull off and appease the fans, but I kind of thought that about the Joker before this movie, so it's a possibility, I suppose.

*E*, what the frak is your sig?! Is that what you tried to send me last night? :Q

The original GIF is from Zoolander. And no, I tried to send this:

lol It is Christian Bale in American Psycho.

For Rel's question, I'd never heard of either villain in Batman Begins and the Scarecrow at least was maybe my favorite thing in it. So I'm sure it'll work out fine no matter who they pick. As horrifying as the reports are that Nolan wants Cher to play Catwoman, I have to remind myself how poor a choice Heath Ledger seemed at the time (even up until the release, come to think of it) :P and how well that worked out. Okay, so there was Katie Holmes, and I didn't care too much for Maggie Gyllenhaal, but generally the boy's done good. Since my knowledge of Batman villains mostly ends with the 80's and 90's live action films, I suppose it'd be nice to see something new, but Riddler, Catwoman, and Penguin are so iconic it may be hard to avoid. Riddler seems like another Joker though. Too much familiar territory for now, imo.
