In one of my daughter's high school classes (I can't remember the name) they watch a lot of films and the teacher says writers don't get enough credit, so when he gave them a choice of the last film to watch this year, their choice was Joss Whedon or someone else. My daughter said she gasped and exclaimed, "Joss Whedon?? You mean THE Joss Wheadon of Firefly?????"
Her enthusiasm influenced the whole class and they watched this film.
She tells me this was done during a writer's strike, and Whedon just called some of his actor friends and asked if they wanted to do some acting. They worked for free, and later the film earned enough money to pay everyone afterwards. Apparently, the Evil Lair, including that big chair is actually what someone they know has set up in their basement!
This is the sort of thing she's been learning this year.....
Actually, I think it was in her creative writing class, so I guess it's appropriate.
I don't think she took a film studies class this year.
