Hey, anyone with access to BBC radio three on Wednesday at 4p.m. GMT, who would like to hear the choir I'm in sing, tune in! We're broadcasting an evensong. The programme is:

Canticles: Howell's Gloucester Service. (Tunage! Absolutely awesome!)
Anthem: Nicholas Maw, Evening Hymn. (Sorry about this. It's a bit shit)
Introit: Boles, Adam Lay 'y Bounden. (This is awesome. Hope we stay in tune...)
Closing anthem: Smith, There is no Rose. (Nice enough.)

If you're in the Dublin area, come to the real thing, of course, at around 3.30, so that you don't get locked out.
Either way, I hope those of you who choose to listen (It'll be on the BBC webpage for a few weeks afterwards) enjoy it!

Choral Evensong is about the only regular church service I get to listen to. What voice should I listen out for and boast, 'I know that singer!'?

The very start? It'll be opened by just the five basses...

You should shout "Hey Tosh!" in the middle of the Maw Evening Hymn.

So for those of us not in the UK or Ireland, will someone be recording this concert in digital format? :poke:

Will it be available after the fact? I think it's being broadcast during office hours over here, and my work doesn't allow access to media files.

It should be up for a while afterwards, yes. I believe they usually are.

It's also being repeated on the Saturday, I think.

Oh, I might be able to access it then.

So, you can yell "Hey Jude!" as well.

Or you can do the actual song as an encore :D

Heard it!
Adam Lay y'Bounden was very good. There was a bit of congnitive dissonance hearing a plummy English accent in the middle of Dublin.

I did wonder if the sirens were hinting that the cathedral was on fire. I'm sure the singers were so cool you'd never know from their voices. And yes, very good singing too.

I tried to listen and the BBC player crashed my browser :bawl:

I'll have to try again with a more powerful computer.

By the way, Crucifer, meet your new orchestral conductor:

lol, Jude!

Tosh, unfortunately, all three Cathedrae in Dublin are in the city. Christ Church in particular tends to have lots of sirens in the background, but it's not uncommon in the other two either.
