...or just one shot or line of dialogue? A historical error? A painfully obvious bluescreen closeup that is probably post-production (normally involving someone in a car)? An overlong sentimental manipulator? A scene that doesn't know when to end? I'm not talking bloopers.

LOTR notwithstanding, there are a few for me off the top of my head:

The family reunion scene at the end of Spielberg's War Of The Worlds.

"Is it raining? I hadn't noticed." in Four Weddings And A Funeral.

The dog jumping out of the way of the fireball in Independence Day. Oh, and the President's "rousing the troops" speech near the end.

The bluescreen at the end of The Hunt For Red October.

The fight scenes in Thunderball which are obviously sped up.

Kate & Leopold - how is a guy from 1872 supposed to know La Bohème? Were they banking on the hope that no music student would ever watch that movie? :rage:

Well, this isn't really a blooper or anything, but the rape scene in Rob Roy bothered me so much I haven't watched it again. It's a shame, because it was otherwise a good movie.

*The scene in Boiler Room where Vin Diesel slams his hands against a metal door after Giovanni Ribesi says "shhhh, I need to tell you something."

*When Indiana Jones hides in a refrigerator in the Crystal Skull movie to survive a nuclear explosion. I didn't stop watching at that moment because I paid 10 bucks to see it in the theater, but I won't watch it again.

Oh, TED, that last one is a good one. That scene was totally lame.

It has in fact been proposed that the phrase "nuke the fridge" replace "jump the shark".

For my money, the entire INDEPENDENCE DAY film is one huge error in logic, reality, physics and common sense. And as for the latest Indy Jones film, I was sad to see this franchise crossbred with the X-Files franchise to produce..... what was it exactly that they produced? (other than money)

Well, you have to have some sort of suspension of disbelief to enjoy a movie.

I hated the scene with Jessica Lange popping her head under Liam Neeson's kilt. I almost tossed my cookies. For the luvva pete.

And, yes, the rape scene was unnecessarily graphic.

And ET was a pretty spectacular movie up till the part where the kids on their bikes started to fly. I almost got up and walked out of the theatre. This is Spielberg: take it that ONE step too far. He's not as bad as PJ, but almost.

I agree with Lali and Vison on the Rob Roy scene. I have only watched that movie once.

Usually for me once one scene is f-ed up the rest goes down hill from there.

The scene at the French printing press in Catch Me If You Can. The movie is based on a true story and if you're not too critical you can buy pretty much everything that happens up until that point, but here it takes a total break from reality. Guy breaks into a printing facility at night, somehow manages to start and operate all the heavy machinery by himself, thousands of checks are flying through the air all over the place, he's looking crazy and laughing maniacally. They just had to push it a little farther.

I think it's best if we don't bring LOTR into this . . . . :D

Do we want to start a flame war? Do we?

Um.

If we do, I'm up for it. And apparently I would be on your side, Ara-anna. ;)

Not that I wanted this to go down the LOTR route, but...

When the cavalry arrived at the last moment to save Minis Tirith. Didn't they do something similar in the last movie? No imagination. And what about those eagles coming for Frodo and Sam?

I'm sick of these deus ex machina moments that littered an otherwise good movie.

Bad post-sync dialogue. Sound is so important for a movie so why do they cock it up so clumsily? The ambience and reverberation is all wrong. You get two people on a windswept moor and suddenly it sounds as if they are talking in a phone kiosk (US booth)
