This movie comes out this week...

Will it be the next Titanic?
Or not?

Thoughts?

Well, I'm intrigued, for sure. I don't know about it becoming as big as Titanic (HA!), but perhaps. Are you going to go see it? I want to read the reviews and then decide. If they're good, then it looks like a movie worth seeing on the big screen to better appreciate the special effects.

I heard a thing on the radio, a bunch of people saw it in London (I think it was London) and they all raved about it. No spoilers, just saying it was FABULOUS.

I hope so. It would be fun to have an actually good movie.

Reviews? Well, Ebert's sold me.

I'd been hearing about the flick for most of this decade, and got it mixed up with that Airbender show, but finally got to see the trailer last month. It was way too loud, dammit. :P But I recall some nice imagery. Heh. Anyway, it took several reads to understand the plot, but based on what my bb Roger says, I'll be there opening night if possible. This one and The Lovely Bones, I'm psyched for.

I thought the trailer looked terrible. It reminded me full-on of Star Wars prequels. But the reviews are great. I'm curious now.

I am very much like Yov on this...I thought it kind of looks a bit Star Wars Prequel like, but the reviews have been outstanding.

Rotten Tomatoes is giving it a 92 fresh rating...http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/avatar/ ... entReviews They gave RoTK a 94 fresh rating...so Avatar better be good.

And the best part is Tolkien didn't write the Avatar book so all the fun of all that is gone.

Correction: Star Wars prequels sans the involvement of George Lucas and Hayden Christensen.

That and it won't make us :bawl: cry because the first three were top of the line and the last three were     :bang: :doh1:

And even if you're a Cameron die hard and want to compare it with his earlier works, or just his 90's works, there are arguments for and against the quality of those anyway. :P More so than with Star Wars, at least. Avatar would probably have to be considered top of the line compared to them, just because technology plays such a huge role in his films.

I am ready to see the advances. In Entertainment Weekly it says that Jackson and Speilberg went to see him work on this so they could learn from his techniques. This makes me really want to see the movie for two reasons. One to see the new CGI stuff and two to have some idea what PJ and GDT are going to use in The Hobbit movies.

I rarely attend the actual movie theater anymore for a variety of reasons unless there is a film that demands it be seen on the largest screen possible with the best possible sound. This is one.

I'm going to try to see it this weekend, but not tomorrow night. Tall red-head beats Avatar.

I remember this when it first came when it was Fern Gully.

:LMAO:

TBH, even having read the great review it still doesn't appeal to me...

I think I'll wait to see what you guys think of it first :D

I thought the "Earth Song" performance in Michael Jackson's This Is It was very similar to Fern Gully. Avatar just looks like a kick-ass video game to me, with the floating cloud cities and all.

Better be no damn Hexxus in there. :pout:

Well too bad. I'm gonna be all over them shenanigans.

Then I am going to see this movie at some point.

If the shenanigans don't kill me that is.

Oh how I hope this movie isn't all hype.
