That looks like a trailer for both parts of the movie - unless some of it is going to be in flashback format?

I thought it made it quite clear that the trailer is for both parts...

Agreed. Looks like it will be good. Though I've never seen a trailer that attempts to show you the dissapointing bits of a film :? .

I'm looking forward to it though. Doubt I'll be seeing it in 3D, not a fan.

[ img ] Excellent...

I know there's not gonna be many people see it who haven't read the books by now, but still, the trailer gives an awful lot away...

So why didn't the trailer show the 700 pages of camping around doing nothing? :P

Harry Potter 3D release cancelled, says Warner Bros

Actually, what interested me most was at the end of the article:
Quote:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was expected to be the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, but in the past week author JK Rowling has revealed she might write more books about the boy wizard.

Rowling told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey that the characters were still in her head and she "could definitely" write several new books about them.

"I'm not going to say I won't," she said.

I'll w00t for the ditching of 3-D! Cursed thing that ever crossed the mind of James Cameron.....turning the world of cinema upside down and backwards (despite the fact that it existed before in a less sophisticated form).

 :w00t: :horse: :toast:

Can't recall if it was that trailer that I saw, but the first teaser I watched I actually thought a bit disappointing. I shall likely be trekking out for the midnight showing anyway, especially after the beautiful news on the 3-D aspect!

I forgot that this was coming out soon! Here's a page with excerpts from many reviews from many different critics:

Without doubt, this is the scariest Potter film so far. There are moments when even adult film-goers will be watching through their fingers.

I will be going at midnight, as I have to I think the past four Harry Potter movie premiers. Definitely excited! My friends and I are making butterbeer for the occasion.

Yov's got it. :D

Kidding, kidding! Jude, the simplest way to make butterbeer is to add butterscotch schnapps to cream soda. We were also going to add some amaretto for a good nutty flavor. You could substitute butterscotch syrup and a bit of almond extract to make a non-alcoholic version. There are more complicated versions out there that include heating the butterscotch syrup/schnapps with a tablespoon or so of butter and a bit of heavy cream, then slowly pouring in the cream soda. I think the butterscotch is really the key flavoring, so as long as you have that ingredient I imagine it would be easy to experiment with different versions to find one to your liking. I bet it would be really good if you made your own butterscotch syrup!

Loved it. Absolutely loved it! If you have read the book, what I wrote below will not be a spoiler, but I'm putting it in white just in case. It also gives away the scene at which the movie ended, so if you don't want to know that then please don't read!
Possible Spoilers!! wrote:
The movie was much darker than any previous one, but the actors did a fantastic job. It's clear that the three major characters (Harry, Hermione, and Ron) have significantly matured as actors since even the last one or two movies. I was also very impressed with the editing. Luckily, the fact that the movie was split into two parts allowed the screenwriters to include more detail, but they still couldn't keep everything. I thought the parts that they did keep were very judiciously chosen and I felt that nothing was missing from the book. There were some VERY scary parts, I thought, mainly during the scene at Godric's Hollow where Nagini surprises Ron and Hermione. The whole movie kept me on edge the entire time, just as it should have. My only disappointment was actually the very last scene, which was Dobby's death. When I read the book, I felt that this was a very powerful event, but I didn't think the movie showed it justice. It seemed rushed, and the emotions felt a bit contrived. Of course, there was also someone in the row behind me that was sobbing quite loudly throughout the entire scene, so perhaps I was too distracted to properly enjoy it. I will probably see the movie again at least once, so maybe my opinion about that scene will change upon review. Overall, however, I give this movie an A+!! By far my favorite of the HP films, and I enjoyed HP6 enormously so this one had a lot to live up to. It certainly delivered!

I saw it yesterday and I agree with Elsha. :D

Possible spoilers, but only regarding the beginning, so probably not:

Quote:
The three main actors have improved tremendously since they were kids. There's a very poignant scene near the beginning, just before they rendez-vous in Little Whingeing to help with Harry's escape: Hermione's parents are watching the telly, and Hermione is behind them, gazing at them with both love and sadness. Then she raises her wand, and whispers "obliviate". As the camera pans across the room, we see her image fading out of family photographs, photographs of her in all stages of her life. The next scene we see the two parents getting into a cab to continue their dentistry career in Australia.
The movie continues to capture exactly the right emotional tone almost everywhere. In my opinion this is the most successful so far as an adaptation - I believe it would be completely coherent to anyone who had not read the book (but not to everyone who hadn't seen the previous movie: you have to know why they need to find the horcruxes and it would help if you knew what happened to Dumbledore).

I should add that the scenery when they're camping is magnificent. Try to see it in IMAX if you can!
