Sorry to spoil the party, but I voted NO. Actually, I read the first post of this thread and liked what I saw very much -- but then I realized that this was a summary of the two articles -- as I've said before, I much prefer a vastly simplified charter, and what I personally think would be best for this community would be something along the lines of the summary, with a bit of fleshing out of course on a few matters here and there.

Having said that, I'm not going to go all wack-o about us having the charter that we clearly are going to have, and as I've said elsewhere I believe the drafters of those two articles have done an extraordinarily good job at putting it together -- my vote is just a result of a philosophical disagreement based on my perception of how an on-line community would best fulfill the promise of free and unfettered interactions that the internet represents.

Thanks Cerin, I read the articles in question but it jsut did not seem too clear to me. I get it now. I guess I can see the point of TORN's vote. ;). I have not voted yet, I just wanted to see how or if the discussion would change once the voting has started. :)

I voted "yes." I'm blown away by the time and dedication you all have put into this. You've done an amazing job. Thank you!!

TORN, I'm afraid I disagree. I think that having a very detailed charter that lays out clear cut rules will help to avoid any TORC-like debacles.

The link to the full charter in the first post is in the form of a mailto :D

so everyone having trouble opening it should just copy it and paste it in a new window :)

for the rest, nice work

Didi, the link is not showing up the way it is entered. It is a regular url link and was working fine before. Now I can't seem to fix it, even by re-entering it.

I will add in green the navigation info so that people don't have to open multiple windows.

Yes, yes, I vote yes. I am quite the go-alonger and have no interest in controversy.

(I know the world needs people who argue and fight otherwise I'd be enslaved to my employer, stupidly doing what I'm told and grateful for minimum wage.)

Fight on, fight on! Iron out all those details! I know there must be a million of them because all that has been discussed thus far is admin-this and admin-that...I suppose that some section of the articles will have something to do with member behavior? Benefits? Responsibilities? Dues? Fines? Robert's Rules of Order?

...or have I missed the point entirely...oh dear...

Edit: Sorry, that came out rather crotchety...my only excuse is that I've been a little under the weather for a few days. Do keep up the good work! Where would the world be without people who write articles of charters? and so on...and so forth...

I'm going to have another cup of tea and go to bed now.

Thanks for voting, Old_Begonia!

The committee is in the middle of Dispute Resolution now. Member Rights and Responsibilities is next after that.

Dues and fines . . . we hadn't thought of that. Tell you what, I'll bring it up. :D
