Holby, thank you for posting your second choice.

Voronwe, I *know* what your second choice is :P and we shouldn't be afraid of a deadlock because that happens sometimes.

I made a suggestion in the Mayor discussion thread about a possible means of resolving our simultaneous need for speed and thorough discussion. The gist of that suggestion is to break into subcommittees, one of which might possibly be charged with drafting a ballot for all the things that have to be named. If we do decide to go that route, rather than make a unilateral 'executive' decision on this one, I would turn the choices over to the subcommittee and let them decide how to proceed.

But I'm hoping against hope that the remaining two committee members who have internet access will check this thread and remember that they need to vote.

ah! At last. You are the tiebreaker, Alatar.

Alandriel is abstaining because likes all of them equally well, and Eru has no internet access.

So, with Voronwe's kind permission, and many thanks for allowing me to do this, we will change the title of that paragraph to Hearings.

(I believe that *was* your second choice of these three options, was it not, V?)

But I'll wait until the Penalties thing is done and then we can put Article 5: Dispute Resolution in the Outside Forum up for Ratification.

Jn, Eru has gotten her internet access back and I told her I would leave these votes up until midnight GMT (which is in about 2 hours).

Everyone has voted. What was called "Hearings on Community Disruption" are now called just "Hearings."

Sorry, but I have a life and wasn't able to get in here. I tried to get on early this morning to see if I could finally vote, but I see my PM request for more time was denied.

Eru,

Voronwe did tell us your access was back and he extended the vote for you, but he thought you would be here last night. When it hit midnight on the west coast he probably figured that you weren't going to come. The vote was open finally for more than 48 hours.

But it's only one vote, and like you say, people have lives! :)

I lost my internet access the day the votes started Jn. I didn't have access for about 40 hours. Yesterday I had to take my cats to the vet in the late afternoon because they have fleas and worms, then come back to sanitize my apartment for fleas, the give them pills for the worms and flea treatments. By that point, I'd used up all of my online time. Not pissing off my husband by going online at night when we're supposed to be spending time together is pretty important I'd say.

And it was three votes that I didn't get to, not one.

It's over and done, but it's still frustrating when you finally come in to try to catch up and see it's all over.

edit: Also when I read this in Voronwe's email:
Quote:
I am going to extend the time to vote until midnight GMT on May 28 to give people a chance to complete their voting.
I mistakenly thought I had until Saturday night.

I know, Eru, and I'm sorry. :(

I was always pretty rigid about closing votes on time because there's always someone who's out of town or offline for a few days. If we had held up every vote until everyone on the committee had voted, we would still be working on the rules of ratification. Most votes do not include all the committee members. Even on Article 1 we were short one vote, and I left that poll up for a week. Someone just never bothered to look at that thread, or refused to vote or something, in spite of my several emails about it.

Basically, if we've reached a simple majority, which we did on the two ballots above, and the vote has been open for at least 24 hours, my feeling is that it should simply be closed so that the committee can move forward.

Thing is, I was in contact and did want to vote. I wasn't ignoring the threads.

I can understand that.

I'm completely confused. 15 people voted in this poll. How could that be if Eru did not vote in it?

As for the other votes, Eru you wrote me and said that you had gotten your internet access back. I wrote you back and asked if you needed a little more time. You wrote back and said yes because you thought the deadline had passed. I wrote you back and said that there was actuall a half hour left, but that I would extend it a couple of more hours for you. I waited five more hours before declaring the votes over. I did not think it was fair to leave them open indefinitely.

Voronwe, 13 people voted in this poll. Someone else is missing, too, and I don't know who.

I did not get that PM until this Saturday morning.

I went ahead and voted...couldn't have done so earlier because I had to work, but I'm assuming the votes are already tallied.
