When we have a clear final choice in the interim vote, I will post it in the first post here.

If there are only thirteen people voting, it appears the first choice now has majority.

Cerin, it could be as many as 14, if Alatar gets back in time and decides to vote. And he was one who has spoken up in favor of offering more then one option to the membership.

On another matter, do you think it's time we removed (Not TORC related) from the Symposium sub-heading?

Cerin - Hobby has started a thread in the B-forum for discussing clean-up measures. If you spot something, like the TORC reference, it would be a good idea to post it there so that whoever is on the clean-up committee can take care of it.

Instant Runoff Vote.

The posters would have to submit a PM to the Admins ranking their choices and the vote would be counted by hand.

Just for curiosity's sake, here is the original text that I proposed versus what we finally decided on:

Original Text:
Quote:
The mission of board77 is to create a growing, thriving international community that provides forums for discussion on a broad range of subjects both serious and fun, as well as a venue for creative and collaborative writing. board77 is fostered by the values of equality, openness, respect and courtesy. It was founded out of a common love of "Middle-earth," the secondary universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien in which these values are cherished. It is a place where people can be themselves without fear of censorship or censure.
Final Text to be presented to the Membership for ratification:
Quote:
Board77 is a democratically governed internet community where members gather from around the world to cultivate friendships and engage in discussion. Our conversations cover any topic of interest to our members, from current events and philosophy to fine arts and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. We aspire to maintain a culture of respect, equality and openness.
I'd say we done good. :)

I'm really not sure how to vote on this one.

Another question:

Let's say we use the yes/no poll and the vote comes back no. Does that delay opening?

We have to have a 2/3rds majority for the second option right? If we don't get it, then what?

Sorry, that was more than one question. :P

Yes, it would, Eru. But if we have a PM vote and don't get a 2/3 majority that will delay the opening, too. Voronwe and others are concerned that we might not even get a quorum with the PM vote, and I have to confess that I am concerned about that, too, with the number of ratification votes up right now.

Thing is, the members want this stuff in place before we open ... they also want to open fast ... these may be two irreconcilable wishes. We won't know until we hear what they have to say.

Luckily the 10 days of discussion should weed out anything that would cause people to actually vote 'no' where the long articles are concerned. With the mission statement, it's a bit trickier because there's only one thing to vote on. We'll just have to hear what people say.

That's true about all of the ratification votes.

But I agree that it is more likely with this one then any of the others.
