Jn, I don't want to do that. It would be difficult to do a member ratification vote that involved anything more then approving a suggested change approved by the committee. How could we have a two thirds super-majority of there are more choices then just either approving the proposed change or not approving it. It is my intention to do the poll here. I will include all the above choices. If keeping the name administrator unchanged gets the most votes then that will be that. If Ranger or one of the other choices gets the most votes then we send that change to the membership, requiring a quorum and a minimum of 2/3 votes approving the change for ratification. I see no other viable option, other then doing nothing and just leaving the admin name in place.

OK. That's also fine with me. :)

I'm leading toward 'gaffers' but I would want it understood that I don't support 'gammers'.

You see, the reason I liked 'gaffers' was because Jn had presented it as a synonym for seneschal. I wouldn't be using it in the sense of 'grandpa' and 'grandma' so the 'gammers' just wouldn't be applicable.

I didn't stay undecided very long. :)

If one of the choices gets enough votes to assure that it is the winning choice by midnight GMT tonight (or rather Wednesday morning) then I will include it in the items that get put up for pre-ratification discussion, so that the final vote on it does not need to be delayed by a full week. :)

Voronwe, thanks for including all the suggestions! :)
(And sorry I wasn't around to provide them in answer to your question! )

Cerin, so I was right that your support for "gaffer" was serious! :D

Well, I'm still undecided, so I went for the boring choice, although the currently leading one is fine with me, too. :)

With ten votes in, Rangers has clinched. I will leave the vote open if any of the other five want to vote, but I went ahead and began the member pre-ratification discussion.

[rant]I, for one, hate being called an admin. It conjures up images of the discrimination that administrative employees suffer at the hands of their "professional" colleagues.

This is a subject that I know well, having been a "support staff" worker for a good 15 years before I became a lawyer.
You really should be more careful in how you describe people jobs and roles in life.

Or maybe unconcious.
