Holby, I'd be curious to know exactly what ownership structure you would like to see, if we move to our own site?

Holby, what did you mean about the subtlety? (It was too subtle for me.)

Cerin, I made a joke that was (looked at from an angle I hadn't realized) in poor taste and Holby pointed it out. I was embarrassed and deleted it. If you really want to know, PM me and I'll fill you in. Or perhaps Holby will.

Right now the person who is in the position that no one should want to be in is Liddy.

He has more money than I do ;) and he's also the guy whose name is on the lease. If anyone gets dinged it will be him. I think that's what we're trying to avoid - one person on the line for everyone.

Holby, you cannot be sued as an individual because of your stake in a corporation. That is the meaning of "limited liability corporation" which is what they were originally called and are still called in England (Ltd.)

That's the whole purpose for legal entity was created, so that people would not be afraid to own stuff together with other people who might do very, very stupfid things.

Voting as soon as I post this. :)

(A lot happens here while I'm sleeping. It's unnerving. ;) )

Another question:

The finances. I understand that the idea is to have voluntary donations. Well...we must have an account of sorts, in that case...which means account signatories. How's that all going to work when we're scattered across the world? I assume we'd want this to be as simple as possible, so we're not going to have internet access and credit etc...so how do I, in Oz, make my voluntary donation?

Perhaps these questions are nonsensical and everything is quite clear to those who understand finance, but I don't. It's all completely opaque to me and I'd be very grateful if those who understand could provide a simple outline.

Impy, you ask great questions, but the answer is "we don't know yet." :D

I'd assume we're going to have to have a Paypal account set up and then a bank account to go along with that...basically what TORC did.

Voting after I post this.

Kudos to those of you with the stamina to jump through legal hoops in your spare time!

But even with BPay (or whatever they're called in the US) don't you have to have an account behind the interchange? And an account means signatories? It all seems very official and scary to me. :uhoh:

Friends, just as Jn has done with the Goals, I'm going to go ahead and start the discussion thread on this issue, since we have a clear (and so far unanimous) concensus on this.

Thanks, everyone.

Technically these votes can be closed now. I just want to move the ballots into the ballot archive and get offline for the rest of the evening.

Sorry I missed this vote. With the 'long' weekend before school started again the puter was totally out of my reach. No loss however, for I agree with all that has gone.

and also smiles at the $/£ exchange rate :D

and thanks for tweaking 'regular boardmeetings' Voronwe :)
