Eru, the post is Mayor, not Mayoress. Chicks aren't eligible. Just as there are no female disciples = there should not be female priests, then since Tolkien had no Mayoresses = B77 should not have them either.

I think Imp took care of that one nicely! :D

I also wonder a bit that there's nothing about a situation if the Mayor has to resign in the middle of his/her term, for whatever reason (and I'm mostly thinking about RL reasons here). I suppose that in such case, a new election will be arranged?

In every other respect, the text seems OK.

Yes - I would also say in such a case (at least for the time being) a new election will be held.
Only if we change the constitution first to allow an assistant to perhaps then take over would the situation be otherwise. I somehow don't think we'll straight away start ammending the Charter before it's finished and had some time to be put through the paces ;)

This vote seems to be falling behind the other vote.

Don't forget to vote in this one too, even if you vote No.

Done my part.

Hopefully people are just temporarily overwhelmed with voting V. ;)

Hey, I'm looking forward to blowing up the Invite forum for many reasons, but cutting my ridiculous post count is one of them. :P

Voted No. I still am not convinced we need this office. I say the work can be done by admins, hierarchy works in opposition to democracy, and leaders come and go in these online communities without benefit of election or official acknowledgement.
