I mean, naturally, I totally read every thread in the forum in the last 24 hours. They're... about governance! That's the ticket.

Still, I'm not asking for myself. It's poor Anthriel. If someone could provide a list of the active threads that we - ahem, she - should be reading, it would be helpful.

Just, you know, saying. :)

All of em.

Just kidding, Ethel. We haven't really launched into any of the major discussions that we still have to do yet. I would take a look at Jn's History Channel thread, and Alandriel's Constitution document on Geocities' thread, and follow the link to the document that she has put up.

To get a sense of how we have been working, I'd take a look at the Member Rights' thread, and maybe the ones on "Offenses that Merit Penalties","Changing Admins's Names" and the discussion on the Office of the Mayor. You may want to avoid the threads on the Mission Statement and revisiting the Loremaster issue, unless you are up for a bumpy ride. :)

We won't be tackling the issues that I mentioned in the thread in the Business Room until the end of the week or maybe next week, so there will be plenty of ntime for you n   bs to settle in.

N00bs, start HERE: :D

Next Agenda Items

under Needs Attention before Opening,
-- Handbooks
-- Summary of Charter and Full Charter
will go in the Mayor’s forum when that is opened. And I believe Alandriel is putting the handbooks up on geocities, too. Other items still need to be created/discussed.

under Complete Existing Articles, you can read Article 3, ¶5 to see what the Extraordinary Powers clause is about. The other articles have to be drafted from the beginning, so everyone is starting at the same place.

Here’s the Charter in full:
Actual Document so far

And for those who really hated government in school, may I suggest you think up some fabulous thread titles and start some discussions in the Turf, the Symposium, and the Latin Quarter. Then when the noobs arrive, they will have interesting discussions to join into.

Ethel, I think it's just so wonderful of you to take care of poor Anthy like that. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I second Jn's advice on not reading the Mission Statement threads. They made my brain explode several times, and I'm a copyeditor.

:suspicious:

Since I, unlike perhaps certain other n00bs, have been closely following these many discussions in the Jury Room faithfully throughout ALL of the ongoing discussions, I, unlike perhaps certain other n00bs, will have NO need of any kind of synopsis.

Although I do appreciate the effort other people have put in for n00bs.

Errr... those OTHER n00bs.

One thing I did want to say to the new folks: no one's voice here means any more then anyone else's. If you have an opinion about something please speak up. If you are confused by something someone else says (probably either me or Idylle :P) speak up. And if you don't have anything to add other then that you agree with someone else's point of view, still speak up. The more that people make it clear that they are following the discussion and what their thoughts are about it, the easier it is to move the discussion along.

:)

Anthy and Ethel

Those of us who are prone to use fuzzy logic are sometimes inscrutable and actually mean the inverse of what it seems we are saying. If you are confused by anything I write, just ask for clarification. If I can understand myself, I'll get back to you, but expect periods of silence.

The thread has been deleted, because of some rash statements from former :Q posters, but we agreed in the early days that Voronwe is to be referred to as:

Imperious Leader

I don't remember the penalties for not addressing him properly, since they were also deleted, but I'm sure they are serious.

I wondered what happened to the 100 members who don't vote

I have already promised that I would try to be professional and somber in this forum, but I have to say...

I LOVE being able to post in the Jury Room forum.

:D

So many times I wanted to add a comment to the discussions before, and I couldn't... NOW I can.

Yeah!

<Puts one foot in, puts one foot out, puts both feet in, jumps up and down on Jury Room floor>

Yippeeee!

Okay.

<deep breath>

NOW I promise to be professional and somber.
