Thanks for doing this, Rowan. :) One additional piece of information that Madame Mayor will need is the total number of active members that you counted before the Mayor and Administrator and active RP characters were excluded (or, in other words, how many active RP characters were excluded). Thanks.

There were three RP characters, plus the Administrator and Mayor nicks.

Forgive me for using the Mayor's forum for this, but the other Ranger thread is occupied with something else at the moment. :P

In preparation for assuming my ranger duties <be very afraid> I was reading our FAQ in the Welcome forum and I noticed that the links to the experimental board need to be updated now that Eru has started a new one.

Unless someone already did that. Anyhoo ...

Okay three things:

1. I was wondering why emails need to be sent out for the jury/mediator/loremaster and Ranger notifications? I'm wondering why it was decided this is the way to do it? I know some people didn't sign up with their regular email. I'm wondering why this couldn't be done through PM? I realize PMs can be lost, but so can emails. We've not had a favorable response for the rosters...only 2 people out of 15 have volunteered to be added. That's kind of worrying. I'm wondering if PMs might be more affective. Also, it would save a step of me having to tell the Rangers who needs to be contacted. I could just do it myself.

2. The Calendar. I don't mind it becoming my role to update it. I'm the keeper of the birthday thread and I also have to deal with all the votes. It makes sense for me to add things to the calendar. At first I thought this wouldn't be possible, that only admins/rangers could do it. But at the RangerTraining board, I saw that an individual user could be given access to the calendar. Could the mayor have that done? I'm thinking it would be okay with people.

3. I've still not heard back from vison. I know she got my first PM because it is in my sent box. She has not read my second PM. It's sitting in my outbox. Is there any Ranger, friend of vison's, or possibly one of the upcoming Rangers that would be kind enough to contact her and see if I can get a yes or no answer from her? I realize she just went through her last treatment, but I've seen her around the board...so not sure what to do.

I'll give it a try. She's posting in the business room forum right now.

Thanks tinwe. :)

I'd appreciate your feedback on points number one and two in the post I made on Sunday.

Also could you do me a favor and post a reminder to all other rangers to please check in this forum when they see a new post in the Touching Base with One Another thread?

I will attempt the welcome emails, but don't be surprised if there is an explosion.

Also I am going to give the Mayor access to the Calendar thingy. If it hasn't been done already. If there are any objections, speak now or forever hold your pizza.

Do you do gourmet pizzas? You know, with goat's cheese and spinach leaves....

No?

I'm assuming those welcome emails came out okay? :P

I talked to Jn about issue number one and she said she doesn't see any reason why the jury/mediator/loremaster/ranger notices couldn't be sent by PM. They're just as likely to be lost as an email is. So I think it's best to switch to this method. I hope this will increase the response and it will also make things much easier.

What does everyone think about doing the welcome letter through PM as well?

I think the Mayor should handle all of these things so I don't have to. :P
