I think it is our solemn duty to make sure that we insult people, they and everyone else KNOW it, just to avoid this kind of tragic problem.

Actually, I'm serious.

Well it brings me around to this problem- am I overreacting now? If she felt insulted she was right to write me and tell me so. I can't demand that she be less angry than she is.

I think I'm angry now not at anyone but myself, that pretty much every time I feel confident enough to go out on a limb and say what I think, because I think it could help, it blows up. This is starting to sound like a pity-fest...

If someone wants to come talk to me about it on IM I'd leave this thread alone and not let it grind down into my personal therapy session. Gimli left for work a while ago and...yeah.

I'm a mess. I'm not being a mess to make Fara look like a monster though. She did the right thing. I just need to talk to someone about it.

Ro, I know that situation - saying something you think is alright and people are insulted by it - it happens, and you said you're sorry, that's all you can do, I think.

I hope you won't lose confidence to post your views! :)

(I'd talk to you, but I think I'm not someone you were thinking of for a response. :) )

Rodia  it's not my job to tell anyone else what should be insulting to them. FWIW, when I read your post, it did not cross my mind that it was an intentional attack or an insult.

Th, thanks....i got fixer helping me out so it's okay now. I was desperate there for a minute... thanks very much though...

Frelga, that's good to hear...doesn't change the fact that I hurt Farawen.

I think I need to rest a moment here.

Good to hear, Ro! :)

In such cases, one should talk it over with the person who felt hurt - I'm sure you'll be doing that, or have already - friends may lash out, because when you're friends you don't feel a need to be diplomatic - but friends also hear each other out, and accept an apology - so I'm sure you don't need to worry!

Wow Ro. I thought you were trying very hard to understand Farawen and I couldn't see a darn thing wrong with what you posted.

I'm sorry that you feel bad. You're a great person.

I never saw what was written. I hate it when you meet someone who you have to tread carefuly around because they see things so differently to you that they can be insulted by your slightest misjudged comment, flippant or serious, yet the good times so outweigh the bad that you remain the best of friends but constantly have to check yourself.

You know? Or maybe it's just me that always happens to. :P It's so frustrating. I made a joke with my friend Max a little while ago- she came up to me wearing a new pair of sunglasses. I expect I asked if she was trying to go incognito or something. I don't know. I don't remember. It wasn't significant. Only some weeks later did she admit to me that the reason she hadn't worn the glasses since was because I had wounded her so deeply.

So I didn't see the comment, and I expect Rodia was being brutaly honest or something. I've seen her write that way before, and always for the right reasons. :)

I know that wasn't exactly relevant, but it just bought my situation to mind, since I know you guys wouldn't be insulting each other deliberatly.

*reminds me of the time Ro told me to fuck off as a joke reply so I said I would fuck off but didn't have access to my smileys. Poor Ro thought she'd mortally offended me. * (Impossible by the way)

I rather like Ax's idea of saying clearly, 'I am now insulting you' Saves a lot of time and misunderstanding. :blackeye

Well I may never get another chance so I have to do this here.
Runs up to Faraweird, wraps his arms around her and plants a big wet one on her.
I've missed you terribly.

Like Holby, I would also request to be smacked over the head with a 2x4 if I start participating in anything but a light-hearted thread.

I don't quite feel okay talking about you like you're not here. You read, at least. :P

Thanks again. I should have known you wouldn't dump me.
