Friends,

We already approved the Election schedule for the Mayor (Article 4, ¶4), and voted that the committee would form after nominations closed.

Here's what we did:

July 24...................Announcement
Aug 23 to Sept 2.....Nominations
Sept 2 to Sept 12....Vote
Sept 22..................Inaugurate

We left zero time for the current Mayor to pick his/her two helpers, explain to the helpers how an IRV is done if that's an issue, set up the ballot with whatever url code is required, and post it.

I'm running a quick poll to move the Announcements and the Nomination period back five days to leave a 5-day window for the committee to get its' act together.

We could shave the time between voting and inauguration, but I really think those ten days are needed for the transfer of information.

It is now ~6:30 am GMT on Friday. I will leave this poll up until 12:00 midnight GMT on Saturday.

Jn

We have a simple majority. I'll leave the poll open for the promised 36 hours but I'm going to go ahead and change the date in the Article when I get back here tomorrow morning.

I've fixed the dates and will finish the summary for ratification either today or tomorrow for posting in the Business Forum.

I had to count on my fingers a couple times to get the dates right. It's confusing when some things are inclusive and others are not, but I think future mayors and election committees should be able to figure it out.

It won't be a disaster if something goes up 5 hours late and we need to extend the vote into Sept. 13 to get a full 240 hours of voting. I mainly did not want the Mayor to have zero time for forming the committee or too little time to transfer info to the Mayor-elect.

Voted, too, even if there was a majority already - I like the easy things! :D
