So, ah, how long are we leaving this up for comment before we make a decision? And on whose authority is the final decision going to be made?

I was under the impression that the decision was made. I simply haven't got round to counting the votes. I'll do that now.

I did already record the receipt of 41 votes in Michel Delving, and updated the quorum data ... so the little piece of it that I wanted to see happen is done.

Also, I added to the Handbook for Committees the midnight GMT close time for votes and a time zone table that future Committees can just copy into the ballot post of their threads. It translates midnight GMT for East N. Am., West N. Am, England, Cont. Europe and S. Afrcia, India and East Australia and tells what to do with daylight savings time.

Once Alatar confirms the count and reports it officially, Ax should edit that info into the first post, and the thread can be moved to the History Forum. I see that Rowanberry already started a Directory for Binding Votes thread over there. Haven't checked if this one is now linked or not, but if not it soon will be.

Did people vote to update the disclaimer? If so, the disclaimer should be updated .... and ... the winning option was to leave Thread Dreadful alone, right? So it should be locked and moved back to the Turf.

No. It should place itself according to the date of the last post ... so, back where it came from.

Dread Thread has been edited, locked and moved back to Turf. Good-bye and good riddance.

Was the disclaimer updated, Tinwe? Did the members vote to do that?

I have edited the first post of this thread to reflect final results, and referred to Tinwe's tallying for those interested in the winnowing in the runoff.

The tally for Question 2:

A - 7
B - 33
(one ballot did not contain a vote for question 2)

B wins.

Yes Jny, the disclaimer was updated before it was moved.

I hope we all haven’t jumped the gun again (including me ), but we do need to have the vote verified by another counter. I’m pretty sure my numbers are accurate, but I’ll feel much better about it once Alatar does his own count.

So, there's no result because we didn't attain a quorum?

Sorry, I don't have time to read the last few pages in depth. I didn't even know this kind of thing needed a quorum though.

I know I didn't do it myself in all cases when ballots were sent to me about the ToE, but it would've been nice to receive something saying that my ballot had been received. I'd normally not send PMs to the Administrator ID, and PMs apparently get lost occasionally, so it would be nice for the future I think, if the person who receives the PM just hit "reply" and typed "thanks for voting" or so. :)

Hobby, the quorum was reached when we decided to accept all votes up to 24:00GMT. The winning options were

A) Leave the thread as is. No board-sanctioned action will be taken on the thread beyond possibly changing the disclaimer (see Question Two).

and

B) Replace the current disclaimer text with this text:

This thread was active during the upheavals on TORC and here at board77 in the first few months of 2005 and many posts were made in the heat of the moment. The comments in this and every thread represent the feelings and opinions of the individuals who posted them and are not representative of the viewpoint of the board as a whole. Keeping threads from the period before the board opened is not an endorsement of their contents, but an attempt to operate according to our stated principles of transparency and openness.

That's a really good idea, Hobby.

(btw, Welcome back from vacation! I missed you!)

Thanks Jny! - I'm off again from this weekend on for a two-week job-training course, and I have no idea whether they have Internet access at the college.

Thanks for the info, Alatar! :)
Pity about the result, but at least now we know for certain. (Are the numbers in the result posted somewhere? I didn't see it on skimming through here.)

Hi Hobby! :) Welcome back!

Yes, that is a very good idea. All of the PM’s are still there, so we could still send out confirmations, even though it’s a little late for now perhaps. But yes, in the future that should be done. Perhaps it should added to the handbook?

Now that the result of this vote has been confirmed and made official, is it time for this thread to be locked and moved to the History channel?
