I support the first two changes.

I think the third is unenforcable and thus moot, but don't object to it per se.

Thank you, Alatar. I agree, also.

That gives five people not objecting to changing the wording of the poll, so I will do that.

We need two more people to voice approval of the objections summary wording and the collusion wording.

I agree with the first two proposed changes: the summary of objections by Rangers and the revised 'collusion' statement.
The third choice; the wording on the poll, I have no strong opinions about.

Thank you, Tosh.

We need just one more committee member to voice approval for the revised collusion wording:

Forum members are trusted to refrain from trying to deny the petitioner access without good reason.

and for the summary of objections wording.

and will supply the petitioner with a summary of the objections lodged against them, making every effort to avoid revealing the identity of those objecting.

And here I am. :)

I agree with all three suggestions.

Let's vote.

Thank you! :)

I will incorporate these wording changes, send out a PM to committee members to review the ballot, and ask that after review, each person state their readiness to vote in this thread.

Cerin, I would've put it last on my list of options, rather than second to last. It probably wouldn't have changed the outcome of the vote at all, though, so it's no big deal. I just wish that I had been more awake and able to put new ideas into discussions in the past couple of days, rather than just trying to comprehend what I read, and reacting to it.

I am ready to vote.

A small, but I think useful, change has been suggested by TrueHobbit regarding non-malicious false accusation under the RL exception clause, but since it would be the same for either model, I think we can vote first.

Well, it was noted that there is no differentiation between a malicious false accusation and something along the lines of mistaken identity, which in a message board environment is certainly a possibility. I would think "up to a lifetime ban" might mitigate that, since making the accusation carelessly should still be punished, but not as harshly.

But as I said, since this would tie in with one of the ancillary charter fixes, it can wait till we have a model queued up.

I'm not quite sure I understand. Do you mean, if 'screenname' was up for consideration, and a ToE member mistakenly thought 'screenname' was the person who had accosted her at a moot?

Why not take care of now and be done with it?

Cerin--

That's it, yes. Still serious, as it's acting carelessly on something where great care is indicated, but not as bad as doing it with malice aforethought.

Voronwe--

Well, if Cerin is willing:
Quote:
If it is subsequently determined in a hearing that the accusation was false, the accusing member will be subject to penalties up to and including a lifetime ban, and always including permanent loss of access to the Thinking of England forum.

Would be my proposed change. Sets a maximum and minimum penalty, and thus gives the jury some breathing room to consider.

Definitely an improvement. I honestly don't see how anyone could object to that.
