How about this for a compromise:
Three given to m00bies, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven for the Talk/Manwe forums, great miners and craftsmen of their posts. And nine, nine days are gifted to the invites of RPers, who above all else, desire multiple IDs and really long weird posts.
This post makes me smile.
Wait, that doesn't look like me.
That's more like it.
Btw, *refuses to draw a parallel between the Dark Lord and the TORC admins by having one day of voting*
About the 7 or ten days thing, I voted seven because every other thread was dragging after less than that, so I see no use in dithering around for 10 days. People keep bringing up holidays - well if someone's going away for that long, they usually mention it. And if they are going away for a while, what's the point in trying to argue that three hypothetical days are going to make the difference? All my vacations fall under the two week, or two day period. I'm also thinking that if someone is so irregular a visitor as to not check in every seven days (*shrugs*) then what do they care who gets in here?
Guess I just have to mention my post in another thread about maybe having people speak up about what posters would be problems for them in the first place. I think generally we will invite people in right after the waiting period because most of us don't have problems with those we're considering, so not only would this speed the process up those those with lots of "yes" votes, but it would also get us talking about those who have "no" votes and exactly why it was voted as such. How you feel about someone is how you feel, and your opinion isn't going to change in a week, but if you let people know who you're iffy about from the start, then at least we know that before starting an invite thread about them and waiting until the last minute for people to vote "no". Consequently, this just makes us scramble to come to a decision on whether, as a whole, we allow this person on B77 or not, and any delay makes the invitee know that something is up. My suggestion just sort of gets us to deal with problems before the vote, rather than during it.
Meh.
