I've cried a thousand oceans, and I would cry a thousand more if that's what it takes to sail you home.

I hope people have not been voting like this. What if the ratio was just 5:1 and you assume that's the direction everybody is going in, and you want to vote no but don't want to be in the minority so you just abstain? That's not the purpose of voting - we want to hear your opinion, whatever it is. If you're just going along with the crowd...... I think it'll come back to bite you in the arse some day. :P

Note: "you" = whoever it applies to, not Prim directly. ;)

Yes, *E*. Whereas "I don't know this person" means only that, and those votes clearly don't affect the decision. Yet I think it's reasonable to have the option so there can be a sense that the thread has been noticed.

Good spot, Prim. That's exactly why we're having this vote ... we weren't sure that everyone meant the same thing by 'abstain.' And no two polls had the same choices. :scratch

It WILL be sorted out soon. :)

I don't want to argue.... but - there's always a but....

it's all very nice and well to have that 3rd otpion in a poll. But it also messes up the poll. A simple yes/no will leave the voting statistics that are spewed out intact. If someone wants to abstain or say 'don't know' they can just do that with a post. It will get noted as interest in the subject without messing with the poll statistics.

But.............

It's really not such a big deal in the end, is it? :halo:

Option a is just the neatest and clearest really - which somewhat appeals to this swiss person

I voted B, because "Don't know them" can't be interpreted into "don't want them", I think, but we can still see how many people bothered to vote but just don't know the person.

(Might be problem though, if we start inviting non-Torcers before opening to the public in general ;) )

As long as we realise that "I don't know that person" means just that - "I don't know that person" - and don't take those votes into account when tallying up, it's ok. :)

I voted B, for the various reasons people listed above me.

LAST DAY TO VOTE.

I'll tally the vote at 9:30 pm EST (2:30 am GMT, Feb 10) and admins can lock this thread any time after that.

Thank you!

This vote should be closed now.

I will ask an admin to lock/delete the thread and add the ballot options to the announcement at the top of this forum.

Anyone who wants to add a ballot to their invite thread can do it now, using
•yes
•no
•don't know them

Thanks, everyone!
