We'll leave this up for ten days and see how the vote goes. All ballots forever after will look the same (until we change our minds). :)

I voted for B because I think it's a good idea, but would be happy with A too. :)

I voted for the simplest option but have some comments:

1. Abstentions, for whatever reason, should not count towards the final count. So why have them? If everyone knows the context of an invitation poll - ie either have your say now or forever hold your tongue - then the reasons for abstention (not acquainted, unsure, can't be bothered) are irrelevant.

2. Ethel suggested that each person should have a veto option - if so, then I think just one veto per user per year.

If there is a veto option consideration must then be given to whether the black-balled person can be voted on again - it would somewhat sabotage the veto in that case.

I seem to be repeating myself everywhere I go; first I won't talk, then you can't shut me up. :P But I'm also very confused with all the threads up right now and the conversation spread amongst them all.

Me too. :bawl: Especially since there's been another TORC "incident" but this time the posts are gone and I'm trying to play catch-up. You know I'm confused when I log into Yahoo looking for you people. :LMAO:

What does black-balled mean? Just so I know in the future. I only know of blue balls, but luckily am not personally acquainted with any (that I know of). "Tell your mom to stop wearing lipstick, my dick looks like a rainbow!"

:damnfunny

Anyhoo, I voted for B.

EDIT: B and C are awfully similar. Has anyone ever abstained from voting for a reason other than not knowing the invitee? Or are we just voting on the choice of wording for the very same option, Jn?

I think we are. ;) And whilst I prefer the wording 'abstain', I'll stick my vote where it adds to a goodly number.

If we do go down the 'veto' route though, I presume that'll be added to the voting form?

The veto could ne be included in the poll, as you have to know who lifted it.

A post would have to do for it.

Nin, thanks for that clarification. I too was wondering whether we would have to run this poll a second time, but you're right, there would have to be a post accompanying a veto so it's better if it does not appear to be a poll option.

I voted for "B" because I think there is a difference between "Abstain" and "Don't know this person." "Abstain" could be used by someone who means "I want to vote no, but the tide is clearly yes, and I can't vote yes, so. . . ." or even "I want to vote no, but I'd rather not explain why, so. . . ."

I voted A because I figure NOT voting is the same as abstaining. And that way you can count yes's and no's, rather than those and also people with no yes/no opinion.

And generally, I don't really see the difference between "Don't know them" and "abstain", because they're both doing the exact same thing :P.
