Nor the 'Balrog Liberation Front' (BLF) or the 'Society for the Prevention of Usless Killing Elf's (Soc for PUKE)'. Both useful organisations, but I do not think we should consider their use on this messageboard.

Like Hobbits, who really have one use and one use alone, and it ain't legal or moral.

Typical Hobbit over reaction

Just beacuse you are embarrised by the sordid nature of your people, don't take it out on PUKE. They do good, what have Hobbits ever done.

They instigate wars, shatter echonomies and ecologies, leave piles of dead everwhere they go, and expect to be be respected and worshipped for it.

I note not a mention of remorse for the destruction left behind by infermouse of your people.

Not that I am proposing genocide, but I think more controls need to be in place.

I presume you mean quarrels between Buckland and Hobbiton, stealing carrots and silver spoons, swatting mayflies, and holding birthday parties with grand speeches?

:P

No, I mean a Hobbit wastrel who had never done a days work in his life, tags along with a group of travelling Dwarves. All is fair you think, but by the time he has got home, the wilderness is enflamed with war.

Look at the list of victimes;

Tolls: Three
Goblins (in the mountains): Several
Wolves and Wargs : Many burnt.
Spiders: A whole generation of them.
Dragon: One, the last of his kind
Elves: Hundreds killed in war he sparked off.
LakeTowners: Many, and they lost their town
Dwarves: Hundred in war, and their high King wanabe
Goblins and Wargs: A third of those who lived in the North in those days.

And as if that is not enough proof, look what his nephew and friends did.

Nazgul: Nine
Orcs: Myriad
Haradrim and Easterlings: Too many to bury
Oliphants: Even PJ had it as at least 23
Dark Lords: One, a frickin god for crying out loud.
Gondorian: Hundreds, and their Steward
Rohir: Loads, and their King and his councillor
Istari: One, discredited and cast out then killed
Elves: Not many killed, but the rest driven form the shores..

Hobbits should be gathered together and tied up for everybodies good!

I rest my case :Q

And of course, the wizard and thirteen dwarves had nothing at all to do with it.

;)

You're just jealous of our abilities. :P

You can't blame those sucked into the Hobbits path.

They are unwilling victims, and just count how many of those thirteen dwarf's survived.

The hobbit did, and got considerably richer out of it. And how, by looting the dead, by pillaging. It was bad enough he stole barrels off the Elves, but to take the last coin of trolls. Poor trolls, never harmed anyone.

Din  because you're such a geek! and to Rodia  - for she's such an adorable Hobbit ;)

:LMAO: :LMAO:

... and just to bring this (perhaps) back to topic.....

I did vote NO - but I'll gladly change that now to a YES (the way the poll is going on veto)

Alandriel ... what do you mean?

Do you mean that you're happy with Simple Majority + Veto? If so, please leave the 'no' as it is.

A 'yes' here basically means that you don't want the veto. The veto poll calls for simple majority + veto.

Jny once a vote is cast it cannot be changed ;) (meaning I cannot go and 'edit' my vote in any way, nor can I vote twice)

But what I did mean is that I'm fine with simple majority as long as we have a veto right. I've voted No in this poll - so I guess according to your above post, it will stand then as is.

... this is alltogether too :scratch for a red head ;)

I'd like to point out that what recently happened to Iavas and halplm is remarkably close to what happened between the elves and the dwarves near the end of The Hobbit.

Looks like I'm coming in on the tail end of this conversation. I like the majority + veto option. In my situation regarding the two threads I voted no in, if we had had this option then I would have voted no in the one thread and veto in the other.

The veto option gives the individual a voice for the people who want/need to be a part of a place apart from someone they've had problems with in the past. Once the doors to this board open this will change, but until then I see it as a good compromise.

Off to vote no.

LAST DAY TO VOTE.

I'll tally the votes at 9:30 pm EST (2:30 am GMT, Feb 10) and the admins can lock the thread any time after that.

Please remember that the simple majority option is also contained in the 'veto' vote thread. This thread is for simple majority with no veto, the other thread is for simple majority with veto.

I thought about this long and hard and read both this and the veto thread... and in the end decided for the simple democratic "majority vote" and so I voted YES in this thread.

Its the simplest way, and the most fair I think.

This vote should be closed now.

54% (13 votes) do not want simple majority vote alone. 45% (11 votes) do want simple majority alone ... and I think there was one person who voted yes here but actually wanted the veto option. Nevertheless the vote is very close.

I'm going to ask an admin to lock the thread, but leave it up until the vote on the veto is finished.

Thanks, everyone!
