Older and fatter and dumber but what's new? What are you training for? I have a faint memory that you said when you were last here but my memory fails.

Now where do I live?

Well, when I was here before, I was about to start a degree in human communications, but all change since then (so no worries about not remembering hehe) - I am now training to be a nurse :-) And loving it!

Older fatter dumber? Sounds like you definitely have alot more going for you these days :P Any BIG news?

Hello Tosh. Do people call you Tosh?

Anyway, what I've been up to is getting my Associates degree. Got two of them actually; one in Applied Science which will hopefully help me to get a much better job, and one in Liberal Arts, which I just kind of acquired without trying. Seems while I was working on the one, I just accumulated enough credits to get both. Also, I passed my national certification exam, so I now have the right to string letters after my name. (oh, whee! ) And right after I took the exam, I came down with a case of bronchitis! Oh well, at least I wasn't sick while trying to study.

LK, that sounds like me. I got my Associate's in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology. ([brag]Got the top score in the nation on the certifying exam, actually.[/brag] Hey, my only claim to fame.) Anyway, I somehow got a General Science degree, too.

So what are your letters? I'm MLT(ASCP).

Now, if I could only (a) find time to go back to school for a Bachelors or two and (b) decide what I actually want to be when I grow up.

Wow, sounds like I'm surrounded by a bunch of really intelligent people. I'm afraid I am not what I would class as an 'academic'. However, I am working really hard, and hope, in 18months, I will be a qualifie nurse and can go back home to be with my boyfriend and family. (What a softie, eh?!)

LK, my word it does sound like you've been busy. Good work with all that jazz! And glad you weren't ill during your studies but sucks that you have to be ill at any time...

Lalaith, bragging is fine when put in such a lovely way. You deserve to be congratulated on that - it is quite some achievement. I am officially impressed! :P And the letters after your name are awesome ones ;)

Oh, actually, I feel pathetic for bragging. (I feel so self-conscious about not having a Bachelors or Masters.)

Anyway, nursing is hard! But it's a fantastic job once you're done. My mom has been a nurse for nearly 30 years now (OB/GYN). There's so much flexibility and variety in what you can do. Good luck! :toast:

As for me, I lasted 2 weeks in nursing clinicals. We got to the part of "This is how to give a bed bath," and I was gone. :D

Hiding in the lab suited my personality much, much better!

Life isn't all about the qualifications you have gained. As long as you can get to a place where you are in a job that you enjoy and get satisfaction out of, surely that is enough. For me, nursing is just that. Everyone is different and that is what makes this world so wonderful! :) I'm afraid I am not of those that is constantly aiming for more studying to do. I am a family girl :D Sounds like you have big plans though. As long as you are happy, who am I to question?

Lali---I'm an RHIT which stands for Registered Health Information Technician.

I work in the Records end of medicine. Sugaplum, I salute you. I could never be a nurse, I couldn't deal with patients.

Well done all these studious ladies. I'm the dumb one here with no degree. They only keep me on here for my looks.

Well, you are rather distinguished looking. :heya: But you're also one of the smartest people I know on these boards, so, once again, I say a lack of degrees doesn't mean the same as uneducated.

Nope. It's in fact two degrees. Two Subject Moderatorship.

I'm planning to do a masters (music) followed by a PhD (Ditto), and then, possible, another masters (English) and another PhD (English), possibly, and then return to my alma mater to lecture in music.

Woah, that's alot of studying! Maybe it's just my university that class joint honours as one degree - my mistake. Forgive me?

It's lovely to have a goal - good work. I'm not sure I'm that ambitious. I want to be a nurse, and just go with the flow with that :)

So do you play lots of instruments? Everyone I know that studies music plays pretty much every instrument ;)

Horn, Organ, Piano, Voice, Trad. Irish Low Whistle and I compose and conduct as well...

I think it's just Trinity that do it differently... The two subjects are unrelated, but I'm doing them together. I major in one in fourth year, and drop the other, but I still get a degree in both...
