Completely missed Prim's post. That's one of my favourite quotes as well. :)

Okay, next question! Who is Ælfwine, and who did he evolve into?

Eriol ?

Is it cheating to look it up? I think this is in the Book of Lost Tales, but I'm really not sure. I don't know how the game works - does it have to be from memory?

Correct, about the answer and where it's from. :)

And honestly, I don't know about the rules.

I'm playing from memory just for the fun of it, Estel.

Though digging for answers is fun, too. :)

I'm going from memory, but as is usual in these situations, I never know the answer to the ones when I check the thread but I know the answers to the questions that were asked and answered in the meantime.

Bummer!

Estel, the only rule that matters is the one who answers the question correctly gets to ask the next question. :)

We don't need no stinkin' Rules! :D

*ahem*

I think since MaidenOfTheShieldarm accepted your answer, it's ok for you to ask a new question, Estel.

Yeah, go ahead. You essentially got it.

Fisssh, you can call me Maiden. It's shorter. ;)

Just to fill in a few details, Ælfwine played a couple of different roles in the legendarium. He was the human to whom the Lost Tales were told to in the original Book of Lost Tales (and as such was also known as Eriol). But Ælfwine was also one of the lead characters of Tolkien's time travel tale The Lost Road. Ælfwine means Elf-friend, and he evolved in a sense into Elendil in the story of the Fall of Numenor. But I'm not sure that that was what Maiden was referring to any.

Estel, ask a new question. :)

I don't know how hard these are supposed to be, so if a hint is needed, just let me know :blackeye:

I guess I'll answer this, since no one else seems to be doing so. Unless I am sadly mistaken, this is Ulmo, speaking to Turgon just after Turgon founded Gondolin, and warning him that he still lay under the Doom of Mandos, and that treason may still awake in his halls.

Yes?
